Being a man means having the confidence to feel vulnerable. As part of our #SameSide campaign with UN Women UK, footballer Tyrone Mings explains why it's ok to NOT always feel in control! With online misogyny and radicalisation on the rise, so is the need for authentic male role models. Those who show courage through honesty. It's time to celebrate the men who don't just change the game, but who change culture too. 🔗 Access our free Conversation Guide - specially designed to help spark conversations with boys and young people about what they see online, and how it shapes their world: https://lnkd.in/efKh6YK9 #VodafoneFoundation #UNWomenUK

"Skills Upload Jr has taught me many things, Learning how to code, critical thinking, teamwork; all those things and many more. These skills have definitely changed the way that I see my future. There's now an infinite amount of possibilities." 🇦🇱 Last year, Dervish entered and won our Skills Upload Jr Challenge in Albania. Showcasing their digital skills, his team created the Eco Net-Work - a model of a device that has the potential to tackle pollution in lakes and rivers, using an automated net and robotic vehicle. 🤖 🎥 Take an interactive trip with Dervish and have a look around his Skills Upload Jr lesson and classroom, in our special immersive 360° video below. https://lnkd.in/eMh5gjsE #VodafoneFoundation #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr

📱 The digital world has developed faster than the rules meant to protect children, impacting their safety. But being online really matters to young people - they tell us it’s part of their right to learn, play and be heard. The answer therefore isn’t switching off - it’s doing things better! To understand what that looks like, we spoke with with 7,500+ teens across nine European countries, for our Connected Childhood report with Save The Children UK. 🔗 Find out more and read the full report, here: https://lnkd.in/gvEs-C3W Vodafone Foundation and Save the Children UK are committed to working in partnership to boost digital skills, strengthen online safety, and shape safer, healthier online environments for young people. #ConnectedChildhood #DigitalWellbeing #DigitalResilience #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr

🎥 Here's what young people want YOU to know about their online world! Despite being more connected than ever, 30% of them report frequent stress from being online - and nearly half (45%) worry about missing out when offline. In our new survey of 7,500 teens across Europe with Save the Children UK, we found some children are struggling to self-regulate - and they're telling us that app design, not just social pressure, can have an impact on their digital balance. It’s time for safer‑by‑design platforms. 🔗 Find out more and read the full Connected Childhood report, here: https://lnkd.in/gvEs-C3W #ConnectedChildhood #DigitalWellbeing #DigitalResilience #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr

Across Europe, some teens are feeling stressed, losing sleep and pressured to stay online. Our new #ConnectedChildhood report with Save the Children UK calls for online spaces built for wellbeing - not just attention. Like many of us, young people aren’t reckless online. They have strong safety skills, but design features often prioritise engagement over wellbeing. It’s time for safer‑by‑design platforms. 🔗 Find out more and read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gvEs-C3W #DigitalWellbeing #DigitalResilience #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr

“As a telecoms operator, we have a front row seat to the challenges of online wellbeing for young people. We are seeing what should in theory be something very positive – keeping everyone connected – turn into something that can cause harm.” “It’s a big problem, but it’s not just a problem for children. It’s a problem for society as a whole. We need to work collaboratively, so that safety by design becomes the new norm for the industry.” Margherita Della Valle, CEO, Vodafone Group. Today, Vodafone Foundation and Save the Children UK brought together partners, experts and advocates for the launch of the Connected Childhood report. Our new research shows how some young people are overwhelmed by addictive design and pressure to stay online, impacting their stress, sleep and balance. Thank you to our speakers Margherita Della Valle, Melanie Dawes, Vivek Badrinath, Moazzam Malik, Myleene Klass, Emma-Louise Amanshia, Lisa Felton, Jeffrey DeMarco, Quentin Gaertner, Joakim Reiter, teachers and students from Skills Upload Jr in Albania, our partners Save the Children UK, GSMA, Ofcom, Vodafone - and everyone who joined us to drive this conversation forward. 🔗 Click here to find out more and read the report: https://lnkd.in/gvEs-C3W #ConnectedChildhood #DigitalWellbeing #DigitalResilience #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr

🚨 Storm Kristin has devastated communities in Portugal, with more than 440,000 people left without power, and infrastructure heavily impacted. In an emergency like this, connectivity is vital. 📡 Thanks to our Instant Network Emergency Response (INER) hub, which was installed in Portugal last year, local volunteers were able to rapidly deploy equipment, providing free connectivity to support rescue and recovery efforts, and reconnect local communities. Due to the scale of the emergency, the local team is also now being supported by an international INER team. Read how the two teams are working together here: https://lnkd.in/ez_MyuDd 🙏 Thank you to all of our INER volunteers in Portugal: Carl Norman, Siwar M., Albina Salgueiro, Carla Nascimento, Tiago Almeida, Rita Figueira, Diogo Proença, Nuno do Vale Silva, Miguel Bermonte, João Barata Oliveira, Paulo Oliveira, Mauro Gonçalves, Catia Pereira, CBCI Your commitment ensures that when people are cut off, they are never truly alone. #VodafoneFoundation #INER #InstantNetworkEmergencyResponse #StormKristin

🇲🇿 🇵🇹 Our Instant Network Emergency Response (INER) teams are currently dealing with two emergencies happening simultaneously - one in Mozambique and the other in Portugal. Storms and floods have claimed lives in both countries, destroyed homes, and severed the ability to communicate. So how do our teams provide effective support, when multiple communities are suffering at the same time? 🌍 Through our network of local INER hubs, we are able to provide a blended approach of local and international responses - enabling faster and more efficient responses, led by local communities. And this year we're scaling up these hubs across Europe and Africa, to provide even more effective support in the aftermath of a disaster. Find out more from Justin Waller, Director of Instant Network Emergency Response, as he shares more details here: https://lnkd.in/gCwyVX5E #INER #InstantNetworkEmergencyResponse #VodafoneFoundation #Mozambique #Portugal
