  • 👀 Sometimes the career path you never planned becomes the one that matters most. Coming Monday... Warren speaks with Krista Cartlidge, CEO of MYTIME Young Carers, about her journey from secondary school teacher to leading a nationally recognised charity supporting young carers. What started as frustration with the education system became something much bigger after Krista realised how many young carers were slipping through the cracks unnoticed. This is a powerful conversation about leadership, purpose, resilience and creating meaningful change for young people carrying responsibilities far beyond their years. 🎙️ New episode out Monday on your favourite streaming platform!

  • “How much is enough?” It’s one of the biggest and most personal questions founders face when thinking about exit. In this clip from our latest special episode, Declan O'Toole reflects on money, financial freedom and the “4% rule” that often shapes conversations around life after business. Part of a wider discussion featuring real stories from founders who’ve built, scaled and sold their businesses, this episode explores the emotional and practical realities of exit. 🎧 Available on all streaming platforms 🔗👇

  • We loved Amelia’s analogy here 👇 because exiting a business really can feel a bit like hosting a dinner party. From the outside, it may look polished and seamless. But behind the scenes? There’s planning, pressure, timing, difficult decisions and plenty of moving parts. In our latest episode, Amelia guides us through real conversations with founders who’ve built, scaled and sold businesses. Sharing the moments that tested them most, both professionally and personally. 🎧 Watch or listen now, links in the comments below!

I’m going to continue with my food analogies here… because a successful business exit, much like a good dinner party, usually looks effortless on the surface – but only because of all the planning behind the scenes.   After listening to our latest The Evolve to Succeed Podcast episode on business exits, I couldn’t help but make the comparison.   From the outside, people see the polished final result.   What they don’t always see is everything happening behind the scenes – the planning, preparation, timing, pressure, last-minute changes, and the occasional feeling that you’re juggling far too many things at once!   What really stood out to me from this episode was just how personal the exit process can be.   Of course, there are conversations around valuation, buyers and negotiations.   But there’s also the emotional side:   When is the right time? What does life look like afterwards? And how do you build something that can thrive without you?   This topic felt even more relevant after attending Accountex last week.   At the start of 2024 there were 5.5 million SMEs in the UK, and 75% of SME employers were family-owned – which is a good reminder that for many owners, exit planning is never just a commercial decision, it’s a personal one too.   Another insight that stuck with me was that businesses which innovate and access external capital tend to outperform those that don’t. To me, that’s a reminder that preparing for exit isn’t something that starts at the end – it starts much earlier, by building a stronger, more resilient and more valuable business.   A successful exit rarely happens by accident.   It takes planning, good advice, and time spent working on the business, not just in it.   So, whether exit feels years away or is already on your radar, this episode is well worth a listen.   🎙️ Link in the comments. #ExitPlanning #BusinessOwners #SMEs #BusinessGrowth #Entrepreneurship

One of the themes that comes up time and time again on The Evolve to Succeed Podcast is that selling a business is rarely just a transaction. Over the years, I’ve had some fascinating conversations with founders and business leaders about building, scaling and ultimately exiting their businesses. In this special episode, Amelia revisits some of those conversations and pulls together real insights from people who have been through the journey themselves. What comes through clearly is that exit is as much emotional as it is financial - from deal fatigue and due diligence, to identity, timing, choosing the right buyer and understanding what comes next. If you are building a business, thinking about succession, or planning for the future, I’d really recommend giving this episode a listen. Available on your favourite streaming platform.

  • Selling a business isn’t just a financial decision - it’s an emotional one too.
