Oscar Horn shared thisMy reach increased by 330% in 90 days. It’s not like I was slacking before because I’ve been posting 5x a week for close to a year now. The one thing I’ve changed, and what has caused this dramatic increase is posting more personal posts. Not necessarily about personal topics (which I also do), but from a personal point of view. What have I learned from a mistake? What happened in MY week? What’s something I have been thinking about recently? I post about the same topics as I always have. But I changed how I speak about them to a way that people can apparently connect better with. I struggled to make this change in my writing at first but find it a lot easier now than always trying to find a lesson or takeaway for every post. I’ll stick to this!

I just could not focus, didn’t start either of them, and felt myself getting annoyed at the situation. I tried to ignore it but at some point I got up, told Molly I needed to clear my head, and went to the gym. One excruciatingly heavy leg day later I was a new man. I came back to my desk in a good mood, smashed out the two jobs I had left, and took my daughter to the beach for a sunset walk. I know the effect going to the gym has on my focus and mental health. Since going regularly again I’ve seen both go up dramatically. So if you're feeling sh*t about work... Try moving your body.

I don’t tell you to comment specific words, check out the links on my profile, send me a DM, or anything of the sort. I’m just here sharing my thoughts. My focus right now is to establish my name in this space, by letting you know what’s been working for me and what hasn’t. This makes my content easy to write, easy to read, and easier to stay consistent with. And I’m having fun with it because I can allow myself to vary topics, length, and formats depending on what I feel like suits the post best. So far, it seems to be working extremely well, but you already know I’ll keep you updated.

Oscar Horn shared thisIt took me 4 years to get 3k followers, then 5 months to double it. And all I changed was how I write. I used to think I had to sound smart, teach something valuable in every post, have a clear takeaway, and ideally a CTA so people will work with me. Well, I stopped doing all of these things and suddenly my personal brand started taking off. Instead of lessons, I write about things that happened to me, what I think about throughout the week, how I’m getting along with work, or how tired I am after a long week. It’s literally that simple. And since I stopped overthinking my content, it’s been received a lot better. People connect with me as a person (or at least that’s what they tell me in the DMs) and want to find out more about what I do. As I’m trying to get people to know like and trust me through my personal brand, I’d say I’m on the right path here.

Oscar Horn shared thisWe left a tropical island to find paradise. 13 weeks ago, my wife, daughter and I left Bali after living there for 5 years to move to Portugal. I know… how dare we? Well, there were multiple reasons, one of them was wanting to be closer to family. Since we arrived, my parents came to stay for three weeks, and my wife’s grandmother, dad, and siblings stayed with us as well. Plus, I’m about to see my best friend, who I haven’t seen for years again. So in that regard: mission accomplished. But there are also some drawbacks, of course. Instead of sitting in balinese traffic for hours, I am now sitting in government offices, trying to sort out our paperwork. Yeah… that’s about it. Just over two months in and we have absolutely no desire of leaving anytime soon.

Oscar Horn shared thisThere’s lots of people in my inbox telling me they’re starting to build their personal brands. Usually this is paired with some degree of insecurity about how to do it. I personally think it's not rocket science, as long as you stick to three things. I have tried and tested each of them and this is what worked for me: 1. Focusing on only one thing I want to be known for and align my profile, content, and tone of voice to it. 2. With everyone (including direct competition) relying on AI to write their content, sharing my own POV about things that actually happen to me instead of trying to teach something in every post makes people connect to me as a person more. 3. As I want to grow my brand, it is important to put my name out there. Commenting under posts from people speaking about similar topics means their audience is likely to be interested what I have to say. This is what I have done and would do again if I were to lose it all. And I know that if I stick to these three things consistently, I will build and grow my personal brand. It just takes time.

Oscar Horn shared thisI wouldn’t be where I am today… If it wasn’t for these people First up there’s my parents who taught me to be myself and do what’s right for me, no matter what. Then there’s my friend Roman, who I’ve met in a Surfcamp. He showed me that living the dream doesn’t have to be limited to holidays. My wife Molly, who introduced me to the world of online business, showing me a way to up level and build a sustainable career. Sascha, the guy I met randomly in a cafe, who ended up giving me my first full time corporate job and bringing me on to multiple other projects. Jonas, who taught me a lot about being a freelance designer and framing my value in negotiations. And my wife again for the general attitude towards life that nothing is impossible if you just want it hard enough. These people have shaped who I am today. And even if I’m not in touch with all of them anymore, I will forever be grateful.

Oscar Horn shared thisI was an above average designer at best. But I still made over $10k a month in my first year. I had a junior role paying me minimum wage for the first three months, so you’d be right in asking how on earth I got to 10k a few months later. Well, it wasn’t the design that made me money. It was the marketing I did around it. I understood pretty quickly that I couldn’t take on endless long term product design projects next to my full time job. What I could do, however, were branding and web design projects. They needed a small time investment, had lower complexity than product design work, a great profit margin, and a very clear target audience. So I got to work selling websites by posting on LinkedIn about the ones I’d built, and six months after my first day on the job I hit 5 figures a month. Examples of my work, layouts that worked well, testimonials, ect. As I said, I was by no means the greatest designer, nor the fastest, nor the cheapest. All I did was position myself as the guy who built first branding packages and websites to online coaches.

The headlines went to the high-risk parts of the EU AI Act. The Digital Omnibus agreement on 7 May 2026 even pushed some of those deadlines back. So a lot of CEOs quietly filed the AI Act under "later." Article 50 did not move. It takes effect on 2 August 2026. Article 50 is the transparency rule (https://lnkd.in/ekEhhQjH). If you use generative AI to talk to customers or produce content, a chatbot, AI-drafted emails, generated images, you have to mark the output as AI and disclose it. The final Code of Practice on how to label is expected this June, weeks before the deadline. This is not a big-tech problem. The European AI Act portal notes the transparency obligations trigger for roughly a third of systems in compliance assessments, and they apply to any business using GenAI for content. That is most firms with a website and a support inbox. Here is the uncomfortable part. Before you can label anything, you need to know where AI already touches your customer communication. Most mid-market firms cannot produce that list. The marketing team uses one tool, support uses another, someone in sales has a chatbot nobody approved. The compliance question in August starts with a knowledge question today: which of our systems are even in scope? You have about eight weeks. The first step is not legal. It is an inventory. British banks still can't access Mythos to test their cyber defences and UK business confidence remains deeply negative The market expects a rate hike at the June MPC meeting, which should offer Sterling some support, while the Fed continue to sit on their hands. A Fed hike is far from certain, but FOMC sentiment is certainly leaning towards tightening policy to tackle inflationary pressure, so Warsh's first test is fast approaching.

Most websites are built for a snapshot of who the company was when the project happened. Then the business evolves. New positioning, new audience, new product focus and suddenly the expensive new site feels out of date. It's too rigid to update without breaking things. So every 12 months you're back to square one with another redesign. But there's a different way to approach this... Build with a solid design system and component-based architecture from the start. The website can evolve as fast as the business does. When things change, you iterate... you don't start over. A website shouldn't be a project you redo every year. It should just evolve with your business.

Using Calendly on your website? Please. F*cking. Stop. Too many SaaS founders are silently killing their growth. How? By slapping on a Calendly widget on their site, and call it a day. I get it. Calendly is easy. But without: - context - qualification - time constraints It’s just makes people think: “Why would I spent my precious time on a demo?” “What in the world can I expect?” No wonder no one books a call. It’s confusing as hel, and it doesn’t convince visitors. Here’s what to do instead ↓ 1. Dedicated booking page So it’s easier to track and will make iteration in the future easier. (also reduces noise in your data later) 2. Add context to your booking page Explain who you help and what happens on the call. Frame this around value, not just availability 3. Add 1-2 qualifying questions (eg. industry, team size, goals) You don’t want every random person book a call. Being selective signals you understand who you are helping You’re showing you are tailoring the call to them and making the call useful instead of generic. One client of mine got a 20% conversion bump by creating a dedicated booking page. Another client reduced unqualified bookings with 46% You see. People don’t just book a call. They book an outcome. Stop redesigning. Start researching. Most brands still treat CRO like a design project. But the biggest wins don’t come from new layouts, they come from understanding people. 👉 Customers often say they care about one thing, but the site barely mentions it. 👉 Simplifying bundles can make decisions easier and increase order value. 👉 Overcomplicated subscription flows quietly kill loyalty. Those insights don’t come from heatmaps or hunches, they come from real customer research. Less guessing. More listening. P.S. If your CRO roadmap starts with “redesign homepage,” you’re already solving for the wrong problem.

🧪 CRO Hack No. #50 Use @heatmapme to find $100K+ test opportunities: (shoutout to @DylanAnder) Here’s the simple process I use: 1. Open the heatmap on your PDP Look at where people click. 2. Find dead zones These are spots with zero clicks. If there are no clicks, it means people never see it or don’t care. 3. Check scroll depth See how far shoppers actually scroll on the PDP. If only 30% make it to your reviews or USP's, that’s a huge red flag. 4. Watch session recordings This tells you why people stop, rage-click, or skip important parts of the page. 5. Turn patterns into tests Example: One brand had shoppers clicking a non-clickable banner on the PDP. That means they needed extra information to feel more confident to buy. We made it clickable → $41,000 extra revenue.

Your product doesn’t need more features. It needs a loop that makes people come back on their own. One of the easiest growth plays I use is something I call the “Loop Trigger.” It’s simple. It’s not fancy. And it works because it matches how people actually behave. Catch the first sign of interest. Every product has a moment where the user shows tiny intent. Not commitment. Not “I’m ready to buy.” Just a small action that says “ok… maybe.” Think “save for later.” Or viewing the same dashboard twice. Or opening a feature and immediately bouncing. Most teams ignore this stuff. I treat it like gold. This alone bumps usage by 10 to 15 percent because you’re reacting to what users actually do instead of what you wish they did. Give them a small reason to return. As soon as they show that tiny intent, send something helpful that pulls them back in. If they saved something, send “Here’s what people do next with this.” If they revisited a dashboard, send “Quick insight. Your numbers changed today.” If they opened a feature and left, send “Next time, try this shortcut to finish faster.” Not pushy. Not spam. Just actually useful. That adds another 5 to 10 percent because you’re nudging them while their interest is warm, not cold. Reward them when they come back. Show a small win so they think “ok… that was worth it.” Show progress they didn’t know they made. Pre-fill something they struggled with. Surface one insight that makes them feel smarter. People repeat whatever feels good. That adds another 10 percent lift on its own. Here’s the quick math: 10 to 15 percent from catching tiny intent 5 to 10 percent from a well-timed nudge 10 percent from a visible win You end up with 25 to 35 percent growth without shipping anything big without redesigning the whole product just by building a simple loop that reacts to real user behavior.

If you’re not becoming a builder, design might get hard for you 🫥 How should designers prepare for everything that’s happening right now? So, I recently had a really interesting conversation with Morten Rand-Hendriksen on the Future of UX Podcast 🎙️ and one idea from our discussion really stuck with me. The future of design seems to move in two directions at the same time: → Become a builder You don’t need to become a software engineer overnight. But designers who understand technology and actually build things themselves suddenly have a huge advantage. Not waiting for implementation. Not just handing over concepts. But experimenting, prototyping real features, and testing ideas quickly. The distance between idea and product is shrinking and designers can now work much closer to the actual outcome. → Zoom out (moving into service design) At the same time, the role expands. It’s less about designing single screens and more about understanding the entire experience. Services, systems, and journeys across multiple touchpoints. So while we go deeper into technology, we also need to zoom out strategically. Design is becoming more technical and more holistic at the same time. And I think this is exactly why the traditional design process feels like it’s changing so much right now. Honestly, moments like this also remind me how grateful I am for the Future of UX Podcast 🎙️ It gives me the chance to have conversations with incredibly inspiring people, learn from their perspectives, and not keep those insights to myself or gatekeep them, but share them with all of you 🫶 👉 If you want to watch/listen to the full conversation, you’ll find the video link in the comments (Youtube/Spotify/Apple Podcasts etc.)

Why Webflow still isn’t clicking for you (and it’s not what you think) 🤔 Okay, real talk time. I’ve been watching people struggle with Webflow for years now, and honestly? It’s painful to watch. Not because Webflow is hard (it’s not), but because of what you’re doing BEFORE you even open it. 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹-𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁. Monday: “Framer looks amazing!” Wednesday: “Actually, maybe WordPress is better” Friday: “Wait, what’s this new tool everyone’s talking about?” Sound familiar? 😅 I was EXACTLY the same. Spent my first year bouncing between every tool that had a nice landing page. Want to know what I had to show for it? Nothing. 0 clients. 0 expertise. Just a bunch of half-finished tutorials and a serious case of imposter syndrome. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱. I was at my computer one random Tuesday, frustrated as hell, and I literally said out loud: “Sebastian, pick ONE tool and stick with it for a full year.” That tool was Webflow. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁: Month 1-3: Still sucked, but I was consistently sucking at ONE thing Month 4-6: Started seeing patterns, things clicked faster Month 7-12: Built my first real client projects Month 13-18: People started asking ME for advice 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗜’𝗺 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀. "Can your new Product Shot service work for B2B services as well as SaaS products?" Was the question Tas Bober asked me. Only one way to find out... so we ran our new pay per asset product shot design service but challenged ourselves to visually communicate Tas Bober landing page services for The Scroll Lab website. Our process: 1. We analysed The Scroll Lab's website to define a product shot style that would be on brand and seamlessly fit in to the existing website. 2. Tas Bober completed our 5 question briefing canvas and provided an example project for us to explore. 3. We designed 5X product shots - including one round of feedback. 4. We created a product shot library with 236 editable components in Figma to allow for easy creation of future content. The results? A library of on brand product shots delivered in 10 days that help to improve the clarity of service offer and value perception for The Scroll Lab Want to know more?
