IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE !!! We recently received a sought-after seal of approval from a discerning, well-informed client in the IT Asset Disposal space. This recognition came from going beyond minimum compliance with local legislation, particularly BBBEE, which exists to redress past injustices and support previously disadvantaged communities. During the BAFO evaluation for a five-year contract, we demonstrated how Xperien actively advances SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) in practical ways: • We benchmark salaries and pay above the industry average. • We invest 1% of revenue in training, enabling careers, not just jobs. • We prioritize long-term people development over short-term compliance. By contrast, some competitors highlight scale and geographic reach, yet their disclosures show basic BBBEE compliance achieved by avoiding a scorecard — and therefore avoiding meaningful investment in supplier development, enterprise development, and skills training. As reported by The Times last week, our latest Jobs Report shows some green shoots for SMEs, with pay growth rebounding in June. Wages rose by 1% compared to May, marking the strongest jump we’ve seen since Labour’s October budget. Interestingly, older workers saw the biggest boost, with average earnings up 4.6%. As a founding member of the UK Tech Cluster Group, I’m very proud to share that our collective has been appointed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to deliver the new £1 million Regional Tech Booster programme. This programme is a major vote of confidence in the role local tech ecosystems play in driving innovation and economic growth. It recognises that regional strengths, when connected and supported, can unlock national impact.
