From Oceanus12 operations to Oceanus17 build progress: our latest webinar looks at the next step in ZeroUSV’s ocean-going USV platform range. Matthew Ratsey, Managing Director of ZeroUSV, and Bertie Ratsey from the Business Development team provide an update on the Oceanus17 programme, including construction progress, platform evolution and the capability gains being built into the 17m vessel. The session covers ZeroUSV’s sovereign UK build capability, operational experience from the Oceanus12 class, case studies across survey, ASW-related payload operations and oceanographic missions, and how Oceanus17 builds on proven Oceanus12 engineering. It also looks at the increased endurance, 4,000 kg payload capacity, 20 ft ISO payload space and up to 30 kW payload power being delivered through the Oceanus17 platform. A busy few days for ZeroUSV at Combined Naval Event 2026. CNE has provided a valuable opportunity to connect with naval, defence and industry stakeholders, and to discuss the growing role of uncrewed surface vessels in future maritime operations. Many of the conversations have focused on themes central to the Oceanus platform approach: modular payloads, mission flexibility, persistent presence, rapid re-role and interoperability within wider maritime systems. ZeroUSV has made a strategic investment in Manor Marine, strengthening our ability to scale production of British-built Oceanus class uncrewed surface vessels. This investment formalises a long-standing relationship that has already delivered four Oceanus12 USVs, with construction of the first Oceanus17 continuing on schedule for delivery in early July. By securing increased production capacity at Manor Marine’s Portland shipyard, ZeroUSV is enhancing sovereign UK capability and supporting the rapid delivery of autonomous maritime systems for defence, security, survey and scientific operations. This is an important step for ZeroUSV, Manor Marine, and the wider UK maritime supply chain as demand for robust, ocean-going USVs continues to grow.
