  • Leading in a fast-paced technical environment isn’t like leading anywhere else. - The pace is relentless. - The problems are complex. - And the people you lead often think like engineers analytical, curious, and deeply technical. That’s why our Leadership Learning Paths are designed specifically for those with a technical mindset engineers, architects, and managers who are moving from “expert” to “leader” and need to bring their teams with them. These programmes blend practical leadership development with the realities of technical delivery think: - Leading under pressure in agile and engineering environments - Coaching developers and analysts with curiosity, not control - Communicating across business and technical teams - Decision-making when the data (or the deadline) isn’t perfect - Building psychological safety without slowing delivery Each path can be adapted for your context whether that’s engineering, cloud, or data helping your emerging leaders balance clarity, empathy, and technical credibility. It’s leadership development that speaks your language fast-paced, relevant, and designed for people who think in code, systems, and logic. If that sounds like your world, happy to share more about how these learning paths work and how we tailor them to your teams. • Software engineering upskilling rarely happens because everything is calm and neatly planned. More often, support is needed because something has already become painful. • A migration is underway • Architecture has drifted • AI tools have been adopted quickly • Delivery has slowed down • Performance issues are starting to bite • A product launch is under pressure • Senior engineers are firefighting That is usually when L&D or engineering leaders start looking for support. But in our experience, the real requirement is rarely just “a course”. It is usually a need to build practical capability quickly around a real delivery challenge. At Ratio, our approach to software engineering upskilling always starts with the outcome. We look at: • What the team is trying to achieve • What is slowing delivery down • Where the capability gap really sits • What technical decisions need more confidence • What success needs to look like after the programme From there, we match the right consultant to the challenge and shape the right format. That might include: • A private technical course • Hands-on workshops • Mentoring • Architecture review • Practical engineering guidance • Consultancy-led training • A blended programme combining several of these elements A recent example with one of our clients showed this clearly. What started as a three-day Go programme for an experienced software engineering team quickly became something much more practical. The team was working towards a high-profile product launch and had hit a serious performance bottleneck. Before any formal training took place, our consultant Peter worked with the team to understand the architecture, review the technical constraints and shape the programme around the real engineering problem. The result was not generic training. It was focused, relevant and designed to help the team move the product forward. That is how we believe software engineering upskilling should work. It helps engineering teams make better decisions when the pressure is real. If your software engineering teams are working through a migration, adopting AI tools, modernising legacy systems, or facing delivery pressure, we can help. At Ratio, we support software engineering teams with practical upskilling, mentoring and consultancy-led training shaped around the work they are actually trying to deliver. Contact us with some initial details about your upskilling challenge, and one of the team will be in touch to explore the requirement and discuss the options. sales@yourratio.co.uk www.yourratio.co.uk #SoftwareEngineering #Upskilling #TechnicalTraining #EngineeringLeadership #SoftwareDevelopment #AIInEngineering #LearningAndDevelopment #CapabilityBuilding #EngineeringTeams

AI is already entering Business Analysis teams, but in many organisations it’s still being used inconsistently, without structure, validation, or governance. That’s where capability needs to catch up. We’ve launched two new programmes designed specifically for Business Analysts: 👉 AI for Business Analysts – Foundation https://lnkd.in/gtZMZX8q 👉 AI for Business Analysts – Practitioner https://lnkd.in/gYnS38eb Delivered by Tolu who specialises in Business Analysis capability development, working with organisations to build structured, consistent practices across teams. As a co-founder of an AI startup, he also brings direct, hands-on experience of how AI is being applied in real delivery environments. These programmes focus on how AI fits into real BA workflows: • Requirements gathering and validation • Stakeholder engagement • Process modelling and improvement • Supporting delivery across projects and programmes The focus is not just adoption, but building structured, reliable, and repeatable capability: • Foundation → confidence, safe usage, and practical application • Practitioner → embedding AI into end-to-end BA workflows with governance 👉 Delivered in small groups (3–12 people) 👉 Hands-on and applied, not theoretical 👉 Tailored to your organisation’s environment If you are exploring how to introduce AI into your BA teams, or want to bring more structure to how it is already being used, we’d be happy to discuss your approach. 👉 Contact us to explore this further: https://lnkd.in/ePPTX7n3 #BusinessAnalysis #ArtificialIntelligence #AICapability #DigitalTransformation #AgileDelivery #Upskilling #FutureOfWork

  • A lot of the time, when we speak to organisations about capability, the conversation starts in one area. Business analysis, Software engineering, Testing, Delivery and Leadership. That is usually the right place to start. But where we see the biggest improvement is in how those areas connect. The handover that is not quite right. The requirements that are not clear enough. The engineering capability that needs strengthening. The testing that comes too late. The delivery approach that looks right on paper but does not quite land in practice. Or the technical people who have stepped into bigger roles and need support to lead well. That is why we support clients across the full development lifecycle. From business analysis and product thinking, through to software engineering, cloud, data, testing, delivery methodologies like Agile, and the leadership and technical soft skills that help everything work better together. A big part of that is the people around us. Tolu brings deep experience across business analysis, digital transformation, process improvement, Agile and applied AI. He also brings a founder’s perspective, which keeps the work grounded in real delivery and real change. Peter brings huge breadth across programming, software engineering, embedded systems, cloud and data. He has worked hands-on from low-level development through to modern engineering environments, which means the support is always practical and relevant. Richard adds further depth across modern software engineering, with experience spanning Java, Scala, C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Spring Boot, Quarkus, ASP.NET, REST, SOAP and SOA. That range matters for teams working across both established and modern environments. Anthony brings the leadership, delivery and technical soft skills side. His background in leadership development, project delivery, change and team effectiveness helps organisations improve not just technical capability, but how people perform together. And that is only part of the team. Wherever you are looking to refine and improve, there is usually value in stepping back and looking at the full picture. Sometimes the starting point is analysis. Sometimes engineering capability. Sometimes testing and quality. Sometimes delivery ways of working. Sometimes leadership. Most of the time, it is a combination. If this resonates and you are looking at an area of the development lifecycle where stronger capability would make a real difference, it would be great to have a conversation. • There’s a common challenge we see when organisations look at Business Analysis training. They are usually pulled in two directions. On one side, they want structure, recognised standards, and something that gives their teams credibility. On the other, they want something that actually works in their environment and improves how people deliver day to day. Too often, they feel like they have to choose. We have been doing a lot of work recently where that doesn’t have to be the case. With Tolu Fagbola, who is a BCS-accredited instructor, we are able to bring both together in a way that works. The core of the learning is aligned to BCS. That gives teams the structure, consistency, and pathway to certification. But that is only part of the story. Around that, we build a layer that is specific to the organisation: • Real scenarios from their environment • Stakeholder challenges they are dealing with now • How analysis actually feeds into delivery • Where AI can support better insight and decision making What that means in practice is: - People are not just learning theory. - They are applying it to the work they are doing every day. - And organisations are not just investing in training. - They are building capability that shows up in delivery. That combination of structure and relevance is where we see the biggest impact. If this is something you are thinking about this year, we are happy to share what we are seeing across other teams and what is working well. #BusinessAnalysis #BCS #LND #LeadershipDevelopment #CapabilityBuilding #ProjectDelivery #Upskilling #AIinBusiness

  • This is exactly what we’re seeing, teams have access to AI, but not always the structure to use it consistently. The difference between occasional wins and real value usually comes down to how it’s applied day-to-day. Curious how many teams feel they’re getting consistent value from AI right now vs just experimenting?

Your team is already using AI, but are they using it well enough to create real business value? That is the question more organisations are starting to ask. Because having access to AI tools is not the same as having a team that knows how to use them with structure, judgement, and purpose. A lot of teams are still stuck in the middle. They are experimenting. They are prompting. They are getting occasional wins. But they are not yet using AI in a way that consistently improves analysis, reporting, decision-making, and workflow effectiveness. That is where our Applied AI for Business Professionals course fits. It is designed for teams who are already using AI at a basic level but want to move beyond scattered usage and build stronger, more practical capability across the business. The focus is on helping teams: • Improve the quality of AI outputs • Apply more structure to prompts and tasks • Use AI for analysis, comparison, and assumption testing • Support better decision-making • Identify where AI adds value in day-to-day workflows • Apply clearer control, judgement, and governance Because the real opportunity is not just giving people access to AI. It is helping your team use it in a way that is useful, consistent, and commercially valuable. If your team is already using AI but not yet getting the results it should, this is the next step. https://lnkd.in/e4KDqegC Upskilling in groups of 3-12 onsite, virtual or in class. #AI #BusinessAI #TeamTraining #Upskilling #WorkplaceLearning #Leadership #DigitalTransformation #GenerativeAI

  • 🚀 For L&D leaders and Engineering Managers, the challenge is rarely finding training. 🎯 The real challenge is finding training that genuinely improves what happens in production. At Ratio, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all courses. We deliver specialist software engineering training designed around three very specific needs: 🔹 Foundation training that helps junior and mid-level developers reach production-ready standards faster 🔹 Cross-training for experienced engineers who need to move into new languages, frameworks, or architectural approaches without losing momentum 🔹 Bespoke project-based programmes tailored to your environment, legacy estate, delivery goals, or upcoming technical challenges 💬 We do not start with a syllabus. 📍 We start with a conversation, then skills assessments where needed, so the investment goes where it will make the biggest difference to engineering capability, delivery quality, and long-term team performance. ⚙️ Our curriculum covers the modern languages, engineering disciplines, and architectural thinking that shape today’s systems. 💻 Languages and ecosystems include: • Rust for memory safety, ownership, and systems-level performance • Go for concurrency, microservices, and efficient backend scaling • Modern C++ for legacy modernisation and high-performance engineering • C# and .NET for enterprise application development • Java and the modern Spring ecosystem • Python for scripting, automation, and data-driven systems • Kotlin and Swift for modern mobile and backend development • JavaScript and TypeScript for scalable front-end and Node.js architectures 🧠 We also support the wider engineering disciplines that sit behind strong software delivery: • Object-oriented design and SOLID principles • Functional programming and immutability • Concurrent and parallel programming • System architecture, including reactive and event-driven models • High-performance design, memory safety, and maintainability 📈 The result is training that does not pull teams away from the roadmap. ✅ It helps them deliver it better. Whether the goal is to accelerate capability, modernise legacy skills, or prepare for a major technical shift, we build programmes that are practical, relevant, and aligned to the reality of your engineering environment. 📩 If you are looking for a more effective way to upskill your team, we would be glad to talk. 🤝 Contact us to arrange an initial discussion around your learning, capability, or engineering development plans. #LearningAndDevelopment #EngineeringManagement #SoftwareEngineering #TechSkills #Upskilling #YourRatio
