  • It’s Social Prescribing Day 💚 It’s a reminder that feeling connected, confident and supported isn’t something medicine can fix on its own. We see this every day. Creative workshops, wellbeing, ESOL, maths and English courses help people rebuild confidence, meet others and ease their way back into regular routines. But there’s a growing conversation about what’s missing. The role of further education in social prescribing is gaining more attention. Principal and CEO of WM College, Dipa Ganguli OBE, shared her perspective in FE Week, highlighting how colleges are already supporting community wellbeing in meaningful ways. Every day in colleges, people are: - rebuilding confidence - meeting others and reducing isolation - gaining skills and structure These are exactly the outcomes social prescribing is designed to achieve, yet FE isn’t always recognised as part of that system. 🔗Want to read more? This moment from the UK House of Lords discussion yesterday highlights a key issue in adult learning: maths anxiety. Our CEO and Principal, Dipa Ganguli OBE explains that many adult learners come with years of believing “I’m no good at maths”, shaped by past experiences in education. But when learning is made relevant and practical, a shift can be made. Confidence grows, and in many cases, it can be life-changing.
