Setting a new benchmark for healthy eating 🍏 We’re pledging to increase sales of own-brand healthy food and drink sales to 85% by 2030. This ambitious new target comes after our committed Partners, and our health-conscious, food loving customers, helped us smash our original 65% target by over 10%, between 2025-26. Our customers have made it clear that eating well matters more than ever to them. Recent data from a John Lewis Partnership Customer Mindset Survey highlights a massive shift in how we approach our plates: 🥗 9 out of 10 Waitrose customers say it’s important to avoid ultra-processed foods. 🥗74% are actively eating more healthy food now than in the past. 🥗83% prefer to prepare meals from scratch (compared to a 61% national average). We aren't just setting targets; we’re making healthy eating accessible, affordable, and delicious. From lowering prices on nutritious staples to featuring them in our popular promotions and meal deals, we are proving that Good Health doesn't mean compromising on flavour or quality. To support our customers' goals, we've rolled out a brand-new wave of nutritious ingredients and on-the-go options. Two new Waitrose shops are coming this autumn. We’ll be opening new supermarkets in Hale Barns and Cricklewood, bringing the Home of Food Lovers to more customers in Greater Manchester and north west London. The openings are part of our continued investment in Waitrose shops - from refurbishments and new sites to making it easier for customers to shop with us. Today we’ve announced that Waitrose is investing over £20m to lower prices on more than 160 everyday own brand products. As the Home of Food Lovers, we know customers are watching what they spend - but they don’t want to compromise on the food they buy. Prices have been cut by an average of 12% - with some everyday staples reduced by more than 25% - across products customers rely on most in their everyday shop, from eggs, chicken and fruit to frozen vegetables and cupboard essentials. This is the ninth round of New Lower Prices since 2023, taking our total investment to £162.5m across more than 1,000 products. Because at Waitrose, value isn’t about lowering standards. 🎉 Little Waitrose Cheam is officially back and better than ever! Thanks to comedian, Tim Vine who joined Branch Manager, Randy Williams and the team to cut the ribbon this morning. After a six-week refurbishment, the store has fantastic new look designed to give our customers a better shopping experience including: 🥐 A fresh new look for our bakery, beer, wine, spirits, and fruit & vegetable sections. ⚡ A new On Demand Grocery area for speedy orders through Deliveroo and UberEats. ❄️ New refrigeration for improved energy efficiency. 🏷️ Electronic shelf labels so Partners can priortise customer service. The 80s dinner party is officially back on the guest list, and a new generation of food lovers are driving the revival! Our new research reveals a clear consumer appetite for nostalgia: nearly half of UK adults (48%) believe 1980s dishes are making a comeback. Leading the charge? The iconic prawn cocktail, voted the dish people most want to see back on their tables. We’re seeing this trend translate directly into shopping habits, with sales of Waitrose No.1 Prawn Cocktail jumping 170% year on year. The challenge for this new generation (49% of 25-34 year olds are hosting more often than five years ago) is balancing the desire for "theatre" and occasion with modern pressures.
