“What was your experience of UK ICF supervision?” Today, UK ICF is pleased to share reflections from Adele Stickland, Organisational Psychologist and Founder of Adele Stickland Consultants, following her participation in the UK ICF Partnerships Directorate Team’s supervision initiative embedded within the partnership with the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. What becomes possible when failure stops being hidden? Session 3: Failing Forward surfaced the realities often edited out of conversations about coaching businesses: uncertainty, pricing, visibility, self-doubt, momentum, referrals, risk, and the tension between craft and commerce. What emerged: • Failure as unfinished shape. • Transparent stories that normalised vulnerability across every stage of practice. • A sharper distinction between the art of coaching and the realities of enterprise. • Pricing explored not as tactic, but as value, confidence, and self-worth. • Recognition that fear does not need to disappear before action begins. • Relief in discovering the struggle is rarely solitary. • And perhaps most importantly: a more humane relationship with missteps and the messiness of becoming. No formulas. No pretense. Behind every impactful coaching partnership is space for reflection, learning and professional support. Over the coming weeks, UK ICF will be sharing reflections from coaches who participated in the UK ICF Partnerships Directorate Team’s supervision initiative linked to the partnership with the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH). The initiative created a dedicated space for coaches to: ✔ pause and reflect on their practice ✔ explore coaching experiences collaboratively ✔ deepen professional insight and awareness ✔ engage in meaningful peer learning The response from coaches has been thoughtful, open and encouraging, with many highlighting the importance of supervision in strengthening both confidence and reflective practice. This partnership has already delivered: ✔ Support for over 60 clients ✔ More than 360 coaching hours ✔ Valuable learning around partnership coaching and supervision We’ll be sharing video reflections from coaches involved in the initiative, alongside key insights emerging from the feedback gathered. A strong example of coaching communities coming together globally to explore the future of our profession collaboratively. Particularly encouraging to see thoughtful conversations around sustainability, AI, leadership and the evolving role of coaches — alongside Panos Malakoudis representing the UK Chapter within an international dialogue on future-ready coaching. We look forward to the conversations and learning that emerge from ICW 2026.

We’re delighted to see the launch of the new Neuro-inclusive Coaching Special Interest Group, co-chaired by James Farrell and Lesley-Anne Williams. What changes when coaches stop circling confidence and begin acting from conviction? Session 2 - Identity to Agency - disrupted hesitation and challenged coaches to stop minimising the impact of their work. It also surfaced deeper reflection around visibility, commercial discomfort, and the consequences of continued inaction. Participants experienced: • shifts in courage • sharper self-awareness • renewed agency • a stronger connection between professional identity and behaviour Impact shared: • increased readiness to act where avoidance, self-doubt or diminishment had stalled movement • more honest engagement with money, worth and professional responsibility • practical and immediate shifts in approach to contracting, client dialogue, processes, and business positioning and retention Kirsty and Krisztina’s intention for this co-creation was to confront where coaches are still holding back. Karen Cappello’s deep experience, voluntary investment and skilful facilitation made this happen.
