The Hat Trick has been completed. If you caught my post on Wednesday (my last post), you already know it’s been a massive week already. Friday (the best day of the week) calls for putting the cherry on top though. So without further ado… I can now share that I have officially accepted a summer placement with UKBlackTech as an Analyst & Strategist! UK Black Tech has done phenomenal work accelerating the growth of Black tech talent and innovation across the UK. Being a part of this team and contributing to that mission feels like a brilliant full-circle moment. Three major wins in one week. We were pleased to bring partners, policymakers and learners together in Westminster to celebrate the impact of Click Start — our national digital skills programme, funded by Nominet. Kindly hosted by Daniel Aldridge MP, the event highlighted how a collaborative, nationwide approach can help tackle the UK’s digital skills gap — combining education, industry and community delivery to widen access to opportunity. Since 2022, we’ve supported nearly 39,000 learners across the UK, helping people build digital capability alongside the confidence and employability skills needed to progress into work. Hearing directly from learners in Parliament reinforced the impact of the programme — from developing skills in areas such as coding, data and digital marketing, to improving confidence and work-readiness. In his remarks, Dan Aldridge MP highlighted how the world can learn from “trailblazing” programmes like Click Start and the importance of ensuring more people can access opportunities in tech. Click Start demonstrates what can be achieved at scale through partnership — reaching communities often underserved by traditional routes into tech. Strong partnerships can build great futures.   At Capital City College, we work closely with employers and industry partners to deliver training that reflects real world needs, helping students develop the skills, experience and confidence required in today’s workforce. From work experience and apprenticeships to industry led projects and tailored training opportunities, collaboration plays a vital role in preparing students for successful careers.   A great example of this is the recently launched student AI Ambassador programme, where Mark Martin ⭐️ from UKBlackTech taught our students how to think critically about AI and how to use it responsibly and safely. This initiative highlights how collaboration with employers can help students prepare for the world of work and future careers.   By working together, we can help shape future talent, support workforce development and create opportunities that benefit both businesses and students.
