Spain reached an impressive 129.57 GW of renewable energy projects with grid-connection permits by the end of March 2025, marking a 15.5% increase from February. This includes 65.8 GW of PV arrays, 8.95 GW of batteries, and 2.75 GW of pumped-hydro storage. In March, renewables contributed 61.6% to Spain's power generation, with wind power leading at 28.3%. EDF is making waves in Africa’s clean energy journey, announcing a €500 million investment in a 120 MW hydropower project in Madagascar. Set near Tamatave on the east coast, the project will generate 750 GWh annually, enough to power 2 million households, when commissioned in 2030. This marks a major step forward for Madagascar’s energy mix, where hydropower already accounts for 43% of electricity generation.
