  • Join the briefing call for the latest HMGCC Co-Creation Challenge: automated audio transcription for defence wargaming. HMGCC Co-Creation, in collaboration with jHub and the Ministry of Defence, is launching a 12-week challenge to modernise how wargame data is captured and analysed. Wargames are a critical tool for training commanders and generating evidence-based insights, but transcription is currently a slow, manual process. We're looking for innovative teams to build a full system that can automatically capture audio and transcribe conversations in real time, within a classified, air-gapped environment. If your organisation has expertise in audio capture, AI-driven transcription or secure systems integration, we want to hear from you. Find out more and apply: https://bit.ly/49z1gUh

  • Congratulations to BioOrbit on their successful launch to the ISS!   Their Baby BOX-E unit was launched aboard SpaceX’s SpX-34 mission this week - the largest drug crystallisation mission ever sent to space - and will produce crystals at a scale never before achieved in microgravity, paving the way for accessible cancer treatments delivered at home.   We're proud to have been able to support them on this journey through access to our technical testing facilities. This is a major milestone for pharmaceutical manufacturing in space and represents the step-changing capabilities UK businesses are bringing to the global space economy.

BioOrbit has launched to the ISS. Not a concept. Not a research paper. A real manufacturing mission. For decades, scientists believed microgravity could transform pharmaceutical crystallisation. But no one industrialised it. That changes now. Aboard SpaceX’s SpX-34 mission, BioOrbit has launched a record-breaking protein crystallisation payload to orbit, designed to manufacture pharmaceutical crystals at a scale never before achieved in microgravity. Inside Baby BOX-E, pharmaceutical compounds will crystallise in orbit into ultra-pure, highly stable structures that can enable injectable therapies not achievable on Earth. This is the beginning of a new manufacturing environment for pharma. A small team. A massive mission. And potentially, a paradigm shift for millions of patients.

  • The UK’s growing in-orbit capabilities are driving innovation and expanding access to space, with the next frontier focused on in-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM). At today's busy #Satuccino we focused our conversations on the development of ISAM technologies. We heard from Orbit Fab, Cranfield University, and European Space Agency - ESA on their capabilities, from refuelling in space and robotic manipulation, to the importance of access to technical facilities. Plus, our team showcased the SLOSH-CAT project - testing fuel movement in microgravity - and explored the technical capabilities our Robotics Test Facility enables businesses to validate.
