Today is Transgender Day of Visibility. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the disproportionate levels of poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces. One of our grant holders, Heard – organisation, is working towards a future where the media and popular culture are abundant with stories that move us towards a more equitable and sustainable world. We have supported Heard and their ‘All About Trans’ project since 2012, which aims to improve media coverage of transgender people and strengthen transgender voices to engage with the media safely. “When we come together, we are powerful — and we’re not stopping here” ✊ This month so many of the organisations we support across the migration sector and beyond came together to urge MPs to say ‘no’ to the disastrous earned settlement plans. These plans double the standard wait time for settlement and introduce conditions that could see people waiting for up to 30 years to settle in the place they already call home. It was a huge day and amazing to see so many stand in solidarity — with groups and organisations from migrants rights, disability rights, nurses, people with lived experience, community groups, incredible groups that have formed specifically to fight these proposals, and more. We’re proud to support organisations, like Praxis, for Migrants and Refugees, across the migration sector who are fighting for change and a brighter future for all of us. ✨
This time last week, over 500 people marched to Parliament and met with over 100 MPs about the Government's devastating proposed changes to settlement. Nurses, union workers, migrant-led groups and so many more from across the country came together to stand up for migrants and refugees. This is people power in action. And we're not stopping here. We've spoken to our MPs. Now it's time to take our message to the Home Secretary. It's vital we keep up the pressure. Sign the open letter to the Home Secretary: https://lnkd.in/eBNABbpX

📣 Do you want to support young people to speak up and drive change? Young people aged 11-30 can now complete the 2026 Youth Voice Census — the UK’s largest youth survey of its kind.📋 It’s a brilliant chance for young people to share their real experiences of education, work, wellbeing and future opportunities. Each year, this survey shapes how employers, educators and policymakers understand the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation. Last year, 8000+ responses helped inform national conversations around skills, mental health, access to opportunity and transitions into work. All responses are completely anonymous. Take the survey: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eKnSVPjN Please share this with your networks🙏 #YVC2026 #YouthVoiceCensus

🚨 #Culture is going into the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill. Director of Culture Commons, Trevor MacFarlane FRSA has been leading the drive for this change: “After two years of intensive research, policy design and advocacy, the government has now adopted our proposals to put culture at the heart of its flagship #devolution reforms. This represents one of the most significant shifts in cultural policy for a generation - recognising culture not as an optional extra, but as essential infrastructure for growth, identity and community. I’m very grateful to the Secretaries of State, Ministers, Mayors, MPs and Peers who have worked with us to get this over the line in recent months. We now look forward to working with partners across England through our dedicated ‘think and do tank’ on cultural devolution to turn this into real change on the ground.” The amendment will be debated in the House of Lords next Tuesday. We will provide a fuller update on the situation in due course. In 2011 Heard launched our 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 programme. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗺: → Shift perceptions of trans people through better, more authentic media coverage → Strengthen transgender voices to engage with the media safely → Increase public support through introducing relatable pop culture representation 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵: The team has built our All About Trans network and hosted hundreds of supported conversations and workshops between network members and the media. These conversations have gone on to shape national soaps, award winning sitcoms, acclaimed stage productions and many articles and features published by some of the UK’s most popular publications. 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: ✨Introduced three transgender characters on national TV shows - Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks. ✨In 2024, our years of work collaborating with Emmerdale and trans actor Ash Palmisciano culminated in the soap broadcasting the first wedding of a transgender character. ✨Shaped the award-winning BBC Two sitcom Boy Meets Girl. ✨Worked with Cosmopolitan on a feature about trans joy. ✨Supported the British Board of Film Classification on a resource to accompany films about trans experiences. ✨Collaborated on I, Joan, a critically acclaimed production staged at The Globe, London. ✨Shaped the script of the four-part ‘British Scandal’ podcast series about trans activist, actress and model April Ashley MBE. ✨Our network of spokespeople have appeared on the BBC, Talk Radio and LBC and have written comment pieces in The Guardian, Independent, Huck and Metro. Each piece has created a better public understanding of the lives of transgender people and their families - lives that are full of joy, love, creativity and resilience. We are incredibly grateful to our funders (Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Mewburn Ellis) and all of our incredible All About Trans network members - whose continued support has made this work possible. If you’d like to find out more about our All About Trans programme, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation has recently written a case study about our work as part of its Youth Fund impact (linked below).

🌟Celebrating neurodiversity🌟 🌍16th March marks the beginning of Neurodiversity Celebration week — a worldwide initiative that aims to change the narrative around neurodiversity, helping us all to understand, value and celebrate the talents of neurodiverse minds. Through our grant-making, we fund a number of organisations working to support neurodivergent people. Here are some examples of grant holders from our Youth Fund: 🏫DFN Project SEARCH DFN Project SEARCH supports young people with learning disabilities and autism into paid employment through high-quality, supported internships across the UK. ☀️GRAPEVINE (COVENTRY AND WARWICKSHIRE) LTD Grapevine is a Coventry-based charity that provides a preventative service for people with learning disabilities and autism, allowing them to gain more voice, choice and control over their lives. 🫶Resources for Autism Resources for Autism support autistic children and adults, and their families, across London and the West Midlands. They provide social and support groups, volunteer-led befriending and professionally-led community support, and training for external organisations to improve understanding and acceptance of autism by wider society. 🎮 Spectrum Gaming Spectrum Gaming is an autistic-led charity on a mission to create a world where every autistic child can realise their full potential. They do this through advocacy work, representing autistic young people at a strategic level, and making links with community and health organisations to ensure the service reaches those who most need it. ❤️Split Banana Education C.I.C.
