A new AI sales agent landed in our community chat last week. Paste in your website URL, and it cold-emails your entire target market on autopilot. Thirty-second setup. £20 a month. The reaction split the room. One side argued this is the end of the BD differentiator - anyone with a credit card can now flood prospects with rapport-faked outreach. The other side argued the opposite: when inboxes drown in AI, the trusted recruiter becomes more valuable, not less. Both views agreed on one thing: distribution will eat tooling. If anyone can build it, the question is no longer what's your tech stack; it's what the relationship is that gets you in the room.

A founder in our community was asked by a client to produce a salary benchmark document. They had no idea what to charge. So they asked the room. The answers ranged widely: - £350 per day, billed as consulting time - £3,500 flat, treated as the first stage of a retained search - Free, for existing clients, as a relationship investment - Six figures. Yes, really. The large consultancies charge this for what is essentially the same deliverable. The consensus from 40+ founders was clear: stop pricing market data on your time. Price it based on the value it gives the client. An organisation about to run an annual salary review across 30 roles, looking for a defensible benchmark, is not buying two days of your work. They are buying confidence in a board-level decision.
