  • We were delighted to welcome Canada's Minister of National Defence, The Honourable David J. McGuinty, and Sherry Romanado MP to our stand at this year's #CANSEC - Canada's largest defence and security event.   At QinetiQ Target Systems Canada, we are building our Hammerhead uncrewed surface vessel targets at our facility in Alberta, working in partnership with Canadian defence companies and organisations to deliver against Canada's national defence priorities.  #BuildPartnerBuy

  • Our Hammerhead Uncrewed Surface Vehicle Targets (USV-Ts) represent the real threats being seen around the world today. That’s why training against them in multi-national exercises is vital to build mission readiness for our allies. Our team is taking a number of the USV-Ts to the Indo-Pacific this week to support our frontline colleagues doing exactly that during Exercise Balikatan, taking place in the Philippines.

  • We were proud to support the 2026 AOC Maple Leaf EMSO Symposium at the Ottawa Conference & Event Centre on 15-16 April. This year’s theme was From Concept to Combat, Powering EMSO Success, and we were excited to showcase our emerging defence technologies for the Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO). The AOC Maple Leaf Symposium offers an unmatched opportunity for professionals to share global research, exchange ideas, and collaborate on the future solutions of EMSO.

  • Our Hammerhead Uncrewed Surface Vehicle recently tested the limits of allied navies during one of the biggest mission rehearsal exercises in the Indo-Pacific. Ten of the targets deployed over three realistic scenarios in Exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand by the QTSC Field Services Team. The Hammerheads were deployed to replicate a beach assault as Fast In-Shore Attack Craft operated from land, and in the second and third scenario they were launched and operated from aboard a Royal Thai Navy vessel to simulate an explosive-laden USVs, used to disrupt navies and global shipping. All ten Hammerheads were controlled by the FS team to meet the customers’ requirements, displaying different forms of threat from single target engagement to swarm attacks. In the scenarios, allies from the Royal Thai Navy, US Navy, US Army, Republic of Korea Navy and Republic of Singapore Navy took part to engage and neutralise the Hammerheads from both the surface and aerial engagements. 👉https://ow.ly/eupp50YrKZT

  • We were pleased to attend the Ottawa Conference this week, joining defence and national security leaders from across government, industry and academia. Over two days, we heard valuable insights on Canada’s evolving threat landscape, the future of defence procurement, the role of innovation and sovereign capability and the importance of strong partnerships across NATO communities. Thank you for the thoughtful discussions and collaboration. Events like this strengthen our shared commitment to advancing Canada’s security, supporting a resilient defence industrial base and ensuring the Canadian Armed Forces have the capabilities they need. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working together to deliver meaningful impact for Canada’s defence and security. Conference of Defence Associations Institute #OttawaConference

  • We are proud to have been awarded the 2025 Aerospace and Defence award at the 36th ASTech Awards. Our team developed the Multi-Role Autonomous Boat (MRAB) through strategic agreements and close collaboration with the @Royal Canadian Navy and @Defence Research and Development Canada – Atlantic Research Centre (DRDC-A). The MRAB is Canada’s first autonomous vessel designed to operate in Arctic regions with temperatures as low as -40˚C. This platform seamlessly integrates both crewed and uncrewed functionality, addressing the growing need for adaptable naval solutions. Congratulations to the MRAB Development Team for their incredible hard work and well-deserved recognition! #WeAreQinetiQ
