As we wrap up our 25th anniversary celebrations in 2025, we’re looking ahead to the next 25 years — and beyond — of PRS Foundation support. To mark the moment, we’re launching the first edition of our annual Ones to Watch list: 25 exciting artists hand-picked by our team. It’s no easy task when we support over 400 new music projects every year. Our team is deeply immersed in new music — regularly attending gigs and festivals, working closely with artists and partners, and assessing hundreds of projects annually. That constant connection to what’s being made, performed and pushed forward means they’re uniquely placed to spot what’s coming next. So how do you choose just one artist from the New Music Biennial when you’ve also been moved to tears by powerful performances from Jasdeep Singh Degun with the BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra — or single out just a handful of POWER UP artists when each brings something vital and uniquely their own? In the end, we asked the team not to overthink it, and simply name the artists they’re most excited to watch next — based on what immediately springs to mind, the shows they’ve seen recently, and the music that’s stayed with them. It wasn’t easy to feature only 25. There are many more artists who deserve to be on this list, and many more we’ll be championing in the year ahead. The time has come: Keychange today publishes its Keychange Pledge Report 2023-2025, offering one of the most comprehensive public datasets to date on gender balance and intersectional inclusion across the global music industry. 📝 Drawing on data from hundreds of Pledge signatories worldwide, the report shows that while gender balance targets are being met by a significant proportion of organisations (50.7%), progress remains uneven across regions, sectors, and identities, with Western European festivals continuing to dominate participation and reporting. The findings underline a critical reality: commitment alone is not enough. Without stronger accountability mechanisms, broader sector and regional engagement, and targeted leadership development, structural inequalities in music will persist. 🔎 You can read the full report on the Keychange website: https://lnkd.in/e-p_d9X9

Posting our annual PRS Foundation New Year Message on my way back from an incredible ESNS in Groningen. The conference and showcasing event proved a timely reminder of the strength and breadth of new music coming out of the UK as well as the importance of networks, opening up opportunities and collaborating with the whole music sector.   My post covers reflections from our 25th Anniversary year. And I look ahead to what will be a pivotal year for the music creators we empower and for the ecosystem of organisations and professionals we support around them. Anniversary Night reminded us what’s possible when artists and communities come together — and it set a powerful tone for the next 25 years of PRS Foundation’s work. ✨ We were thrilled to welcome Rakhi Singh, Yazmin Lacey and alt-blk-era, with the evening curated by Jamz Supernova. All are PRS Foundation-supported artists, and their performances helped us mark 25 years of investing in the future of music PRS for Music. As we celebrate this milestone, our focus remains clear: to build the next 25 years of opportunity, equity and creativity in the UK music sector. We’re inviting partners across the music and creative industries to work with us to: • Transform music creator careers across the UK • Empower more songwriters, composers and artists to realise their potential • Strengthen music scenes from the grassroots up • Address the complex and systemic barriers holding talent back A huge thank-you to our existing partners and funders for making this work possible, and to our Chair Jane Dyball and CEO Joe Frankland for their inspiring contributions on the night. If you’d like to collaborate or explore partnership opportunities, we’d love to talk. 📩 collaborate@prsfoundation.com Individuals can also support our work via PRS Foundation – JustGiving: https://lnkd.in/exDm5p-q
