Happy Saturday From Propriotec Saturday mornings hvae a different kind of energy: slower, clearer, and a bit more reflective. Its when the chaos of the week subsides and you've (hopefully) got some room to breathe. In the prop firm space, we spend so much of the week moving fast- manging systems, improving processes, solving challenges in real time. But weekends remind us innovation isn't only about speed, but also clarity. Taking a moment to slow down often leads to sharper insight: - What worked this week that's worth repeating? - What can we do without rushing? - Where can we create more value, not just more output? Growth doesn't always come from pushing harder, sometimes it comes from stepping back, zooming out, and reconnecting with the bigger picture. Here's to the pause before the next push. Wishing everyone a productive reset this weekend.

Friday Thoughts: Building for What's Next in the Prop Firm Space The prop firm space is evolving faster than ever. What started as a niche corner of finance has grown into a dynamic ecosystem, one defined by accessibility, technology and the pursuit of performance scale. Every week, I'm reminded how much the industry is shifting. Traders are becoming more sophisticated, data more democratised, and expectations higher across the board. Yet, the firms that stand out aren't just reacting to market trends, they're building for what's next. That means thinking beyond the short-term metrics and payouts. Its about infrastructure, trader experience, and the sustainability of the model itself. Its about cultivating trust, transparency, and consistency in an industry that moves quickly and can change overnight. The most forward thinking prop firms aren't chasing noise, they're designing systems that last. They're blending performance with purpose, ensuring that traders and firms grow together rather than apart. So, as we wrap up this week, I'm encouraged by the direction the space is heading- more collaboration, better technology, and a sharper focus on long term value. The next phase of growth won't come from who scales fastest, but from who builds smartest. Here's to everyone in the space pushing boundaries, learning fast, and investing in what the future of trading can be!

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮 In trading, performance is easy to measure... until it isn't. Profit and loss tells part of the story, but its a snapshot not the narrative. The deeper question is always the same: 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮 It's easy to look at the top of your game in a favourable regime. Every trader, model, or desk has its moment in the sun. But as markets evolve, yesterdays edge often becomes todays exposure. True alpha isn't just the return you make, it's the risk you didn't take to make it. And in that sense, risk management is less about defense and more about durability. Because thats when volatility spikes, liquidity thins, or correlation structures collapse, its not the boldest traders who last, its the most prepared. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹: 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 The best traders I’ve seen aren’t the ones with the highest win rate. They’re the ones who size correctly when they’re right and scale down quickly when they’re wrong. That skill looks invisible from the outside. It doesn’t make for exciting P&L screenshots or flashy intraday charts. But over the long arc of performance, it compounds. Risk management isn’t the brake pedal, it’s the steering wheel. It keeps you on the road when the terrain shifts. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 Even in systematic trading, risk is a creative act. Models don’t know when they’ve stopped working, humans do. A good framework has clear boundaries: when to switch off, when to throttle exposure, when to cut a loss even if the backtest says “hold.” Building those override mechanisms isn’t a lack of trust in the model; it’s a recognition of reality. Markets change faster than code updates. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 In a world obsessed with alpha, risk managers are often the unsung heroes of the desk. They keep the game going when others are forced to stop playing. Every firm has a different definition of success. Ours is simple: stay solvent, stay curious, stay in the game long enough to keep learning. If you’re in the trading world, I’d be curious... What’s one thing you’ve changed about your own approach to risk over the years?

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 For years, proprietary trading has been about edge: finding inefficiencies, spotting patterns faster, and executing with precision. However, the longer you're in the game, the clearer one truth becomes: edge erodes. Markets adapt. Technology equalises. Data sets get commoditised. The traders who survive aren't necessarily the smartest, they're the ones who can adapt faster than the system can change. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲: 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 A decade ago, speed was everything. Access to data, co-located servers, faster execution: those advantages defined performance. But that playing field has largely levelled out. Latency arms races have diminishing returns, and market data is increasingly democratised. The next layer of differentiation isn't how fast you can act, its 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲: 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Adaptability means being able to move between regimes, from volatility spikes to range bound periods, from high correlation phases to idiosyncratic markets, without breaking your process. It also means being honest about whats no longer working. That's hard in a culture that celebrates conviction. But in trading conviction without feedback becomes stubbornness. Judgment, the ability to interpret when a model is lying or when a dataset is losing signal (might now be the rarest skill in the room). 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 At the firm level, adaptability comes from diversity of thought. you want people who question, not just optimise. You want researchers who can sit with ambiguity. You want traders who understand both maths and psychology. Most importantly, you want a culture that values iteration over perfection. In markets that never stop evolving, "finished" is just another word for "falling behind". 𝗔 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 If the next era of prop trading belongs to the adaptable, how do we train for that? What does adaptability look like in your process: your models, your hiring, your mindset? We'd love to hear from others in this space and their thoughts about this shift Comment below!
