New data revealed in Parliament and backed by new Ordnance Survey research paints a stark picture of the flood exposure facing UK infrastructure: 🚦 13% of England's Strategic Road Network sits in high flood risk zones 🚂 20% of England's rail network intersects high flood risk zones 📍 36 local authorities face the risk of complete rail isolation 🔧 Only 7% of the SRN has been adapted to National Highways' climate standards ⚠️ Around 1,800 flood events were recorded on the SRN in a single year As one expert put it, flooding on the UK's transport network is no longer an edge case. It is a "persistent planning reality." We've written about what this data means and why the gap between flood risk and flood resilience should concern everyone responsible for keeping roads and rail moving. 🔗 Read the full article on our website: https://lnkd.in/gBCp8RVH #FloodRisk #Infrastructure #Highways #ClimateResilience #Flooding #TransportResilience

A major new flood defence investment announced by the Environment Agency will see tens of thousands of homes and businesses across England better protected. 🏡 🌊 With £1.4bn committed this year alone, part of a £10.5bn long-term programme - over 600 projects will be delivered, alongside critical repairs following recent storms. 💷 This is a significant step forward. But it also highlights a bigger shift. Flood risk in the UK is increasing in both scale and complexity. It’s no longer a series of isolated events - it’s becoming a systemic challenge driven by more intense and frequent rainfall. ☔ While flood defences remain essential, they cannot eliminate risk entirely. Alongside physical defences, there is a growing need for real-time, location-specific insight, enabling organisations to anticipate impacts and act earlier. The future of flood resilience isn’t just about building higher barriers. It’s about making better, faster decisions when it matters most. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCjqZmka #FloodRisk #ClimateResilience #Flooding #Infrastructure #RiskManagement

🌊 How can housing providers stay ahead of flood risk - not just respond to it? Our latest case study with Orbit Group shows what’s possible when you shift from reactive to proactive flood resilience. 🏡 Like many organisations, Orbit faced a growing challenge: ➡️ Increasing surface water flood risk ➡️ Limited visibility of when and where impacts would occur ➡️ The need to protect homes, communities, and critical assets By working with Previsico and their insurer Zurich Municipal, they’ve been able to: ✔️ Gain real-time, site-specific flood forecasts ✔️ Receive early warnings to take action ahead of events ✔️ Improve preparedness across their housing portfolio With flooding a present and growing risk for UK organisations, having the right insight at the right time is no longer optional - it’s essential. 👉 Read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/eYnnwUTM #FloodRisk #ClimateResilience #SocialHousing #RiskManagement #Insurtech #Data #Resilience #Previsico

Great to see Marsh Risk highlighting a critical factor in effective flood response: timing. ⏰ When it comes to flood risk, having the right information early can make all the difference. Previsico’s technology provides property-level flood forecasts up to 48 hours in advance, giving organisations valuable time to prepare, protect assets and implement mitigation measures before floodwater arrives. 🌊 As conditions evolve, forecasts are updated hourly, helping risk managers and response teams stay ahead of rapidly changing weather and surface water dynamics. Through our collaboration with Marsh Risk, customers gain access to actionable flood intelligence that helps them prepare, take action and protect their critical assets. It’s a great example of how combining risk expertise and predictive technology can help organisations move from reacting to flooding — to anticipating and preventing its impacts. #FloodRisk #ClimateRisk #FloodForecasting #Resilience #InsurTech
