Ever feel like you’re clicking through ten different menus just to find one setting? WordPress is introducing a "cheat code" for your dashboard in the upcoming 7.0 release. Currently in Beta 5, this "Omnibar" is now accessible from the top admin bar, meaning you can trigger actions from anywhere on your site, not just inside the editor. Why we’re excited: 🔸 Cmd+K / Ctrl+K: Instant navigation. Type "Add New Post," "Edit Header," or "Switch to Dark Mode" and hit enter. 🔸 Context-Aware: It adapts to you. It suggests design tools when you’re in the editor and management tools when you're in the dashboard. 🔸 The Abilities API: Modern plugins can now "hook" into the palette, allowing you to run SEO audits or clear caches via a quick search. We are obsessed with efficiency. Every second saved on navigation is a second reinvested into strategy and user experience. This update brings "developer-grade" speed to every WordPress user, making the CMS feel faster and more intuitive than ever. Less clicking, more creating. Since this is in Beta, we recommend testing it in a staging environment first, but once you try it, you'll never go back to the sidebar!

Here’s a quick WordPress check every site owner should do. Open your plugin list. Ask three questions: 1️⃣ Are all plugins still needed? 2️⃣ Are they actively maintained? 3️⃣ Are they updated regularly? If the answer to any of these is no… It might be time for a cleanup.

A great new addition to the Block Themes 101 series from our colleague Anastasia Adamoudi 👏 If you've ever wondered about the difference between block styles, style variations, and block variations, this article breaks it down clearly and shows when to use each one in your projects. Well worth a read for anyone working with modern WordPress themes.
𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟭 – 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟰: 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Block styles, style variations, block variations - three things that sound like they do the same thing, but they don't. Part 4 of my Block Themes 101 series is all about understanding the difference and knowing when to reach for each one. 🎨 Block Styles: need your button to look three different ways? Or your headings to have a decorative style used throughout the site? Block styles let editors apply predefined visual variants with one click, no manually adding CSS classes required. 🖼️ Style Variations: want to offer a dark mode, a seasonal colour scheme, or multiple approved looks for a client? Style variations swap out the entire theme's colours, typography and spacing without touching a single template. ⚙️ Block Variations: need the Query Loop to pull from a custom post type? Want a two-image layout where the Media & Text block only gives you one? Block variations let you pre-configure existing core blocks so they show up in the block inserter ready to go - no custom block development needed. The full article also covers how to register all three in your codebase and what they look like in the editor 💡 🔗 Link to the full article: https://lnkd.in/evst-34R 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵? We’ll look at navigation in block themes: how to create and edit menus in the Site Editor, and how to use them in a header template part.
