  • Construction is one of the world's largest industries, but it's also one of the last to be transformed. - 98% of megaprojects overrun on cost or schedule.  - 30% of every pound spent goes on rework.  - Productivity has barely moved in 70 years, while every other industry transformed around it. We've spent the last year asking one question: will AI be the breakthrough technology that finally fixes this and leads us to the self-coordinating site. Our new research is coming. Last week we welcomed Cohort 14 to London for the launch of the Pi Labs Growth Programme.   🚀 This cohort brings together five global start-ups deploying agentic AI across the construction lifecycle, rethinking how we design, build and operate the built world. Launch week is designed to immerse founders into the Pi Labs network from day one: 🤝 Access to industry leaders - Our annual Mentor Drinks connected the cohort with Pi Labs venture partners, operators, specialist advisors and leading real estate investors shaping the future of the built world. 🏛️ Where innovation meets policy - At Guildhall, founders joined a breakfast roundtable with the City of London Corporation’s Planning, Development & Environment teams, bringing together the people who fund, innovate and regulate the built environment in one room. 💡Learning from founders who’ve scaled before - Philippa Brown (Elyos AI) shared the realities of scaling from 0 to £1M ARR, a candid session on execution, growth and building through challenges. 🎤 Building conviction - Founders pitched to each other, pressure-tested narratives and sharpened their decks, learning not only how to tell their story, but how to communicate vision with clarity. 🌱 Starting with leadership - The cohort also began their GP Masterclass journey with a leadership session led by Pi Labs VP Victoria Hill 📈 Real Estate Leadership Coach, because the foundation of every successful company is founder leadership. And because building companies is a long game, we made time to experience London together too: team dinners, a run through Hyde Park and an evening at Jazz Cafe. 🌳🎷 One week in, and the ambition, talent and energy across this cohort is already clear. Excited for what’s ahead. 🔗 Meet the founders here:  https://lnkd.in/eJQu8T_4 AutoSitu (YC W26) Bite Movable Unbane Veridue AI.

Why will AI be the one technology to finally fix construction, when decades of software before it couldn't?  That's the question we'll be answering on 14 May. Pi Labs is hosting an exclusive portfolio showcase featuring five of our AI-native companies building across the full construction and real assets lifecycle. Despite being a $13 trillion industry, construction remains one of the least automated in the world. The past era was defined by hundreds of contractors, fragmentation across documents, and scattered decisions that no software could align on. AI is changing that, and our portfolio companies are the first paving the way to the “Self-Coordinating Site”. If you’re an investor, construction group or real estate operator who wants to understand where this market is heading before others, RSVP below. 🔗 Register here: https://luma.com/m7aazh15

💻 Last week, we brought together CTOs from across our portfolio, not just to talk about AI, but to learn from each other. What stood out wasn’t just what was said, but how openly leaders shared what’s actually working (and what isn’t) as they navigate AI in production. 💡 A few key takeaways from the room: → The question is no longer if you adopt AI, it’s how much you trust it. Where does automation end and human judgment begin? → AI is already catching security issues teams would have missed and dramatically accelerating prototyping, but concerns around hallucinations, model drift, and vendor dependency are very real. → The CTO role itself is evolving. Less time in the code, more time shaping strategy, teams, and culture around AI. What made this session powerful is exactly why we invest the way we do: bringing together operators facing similar challenges to share, challenge, and move faster together. We’re still early, but the teams that figure out how to trust AI across the full lifecycle (design → build → deploy) will have a real edge. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed, and to Phil Cowans, Dan Lucraft, and Jan H. Blümel for leading such an open discussion. If you’re building at the intersection of AI and real assets, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to investment@pilabs.vc 📩

🏗️ Building a company is hard. Building one in construction, as a fully female founding team, is something else entirely. Meet Brittany Harris FICE and Jade Cohen, the founders behind Qualis Flow (Qflow). What gets designed rarely matches what gets built. Materials arrive wrong, substitutions go untracked, and problems only surface when it's too late to avoid the damage. Qflow is fixing that: closing the loop between design and reality, so issues get caught before they hit schedules and budgets. But the product is only part of their story. Brittany and Jade have scaled Qflow through market downturn, expanded across borders in some of the most politically turbulent times in recent history, and partnered with a number of high profile investors, including Autodesk, to support the journey - all the while building at the top of one of the most male-dominated and technically-conservative industries in the world. 🌍 Every one of those milestones came with its own set of obstacles, and yet they cleared all of them. 👩🏻💻 With strong tail winds accelerating their success they are growing their team in the UK and USA. 🚀  Female founders are building the future, and we want to be part of that journey. Our Principal, Michelle Wilk, is joining Playfair Capital's Female Founder Office Hours next week to connect with female founders over 1:1 pitching and mentoring sessions. Too many brilliant founders still face real barriers to accessing capital and investors, and that's why events like this matter. As a proud signatory of the Investing in Women Code, showing up for this community is something we're committed to, not just in our own portfolio, but across the entire ecosystem. 🔗 We are also running our own Female Founder Office Hours at Pi Labs; if you're building across real assets and AI, this is for you: https://lnkd.in/eRNCQd5r 🔗 #FemaleFounders #OfficeHours #InvestingInWomenCode #VC #technology #diversity

🏗️ CONXAI raises €5M bringing agentic AI to construction  We’re proud to back CONXAI, as they close a €5M round to expand globally, alongside BayBG VENTURE CAPITAL, Capricorn Partners, Earlybird Venture Capital, noaZacua Ventures and Argonautic Ventures. Construction runs on data, however, most of it until now has been unusable until now. CONXAI's agentic AI platform changes that, turning fragmented information into fast decisions and tasks that once took days into minutes. We first backed Sharique Husain and the team through our 2022 Growth Programme. Since then, they've gone from early-stage to global, live deployments across Europe, the US and Japan. This investment reflects a conviction we've held since day one, that the real opportunity in the built world isn't digitisation, it's automation, and CONXAI is bringing that vision one step closer. Congratulations to Sharique Husain and the team, excited to see what's next. 🚀 Read more on the round here: https://lnkd.in/d4-FpBnn   #ConstructionTech #AgenticAI #PiLabs #BuiltWorld
