In a potential first a Kingston University 3rd year student group from the Aerospace with Space Technology pathway from the Kingston University - Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment has combined a linear Aerospike with a hybrid propellant propulsion system. I believe this may be a world first (AFAIK - please correct me if I'm wrong). It is water cooled linear aerospike combined with a GOx and Nylon6 hybrid propellant propulsion system, ignited by a torch igniter. There are several unseen innovations in this design apart from the linear aerospike, around the creation of a vortex combustion using a novel injector and a special shaped grain. We aim to publish a paper over the summer with more details. Target thrust was 427N and achieved average thrust was around 400N. Although the nozzle failed safely this has been a great opportunity for the students to learn about materials, heat transfer and cooling. For a first attempt I think the students did a fantastic job. Onwards and upwards. Thank you to Protolaunch and the team in enabling this test and student experience. Well done Daniel Horacio Guardamana, Aishani Patel Jerin Joy, SARIN VINOD SAIJA, Rodel Miah, Theo Davenport!

Day five of Kingston University’s CodeFest transported us straight back to the golden age of computing 🕹️ Students spent the day experimenting with 1980s computers, reliving gaming history on Atari, SEGA and Nintendo consoles, and putting their skills to the test on two full‑size arcade cabinets 👾 It was the ultimate blend of old‑school coding, early‑era game mechanics and pure nostalgia - and a great reminder that the foundations of computing are every bit as exciting today. #KingstonUni #CodeFest #Computing #Gaming #TechEvent

Day three of Kingston University’s CodeFest delivered next-level creativity at 'Vibeathon' - a hackathon with a fun twist! 🎮 Students and aspiring developers took on the challenge of building their own games or social-change applications, chosing from one of three pathways: 🧑💻 Human coding only 🤖 AI‑supported development ✨ “No code, just vibes” - fully AI‑generated builds Their mission? Reimagine one of three classic arcade games - Donkey Kong, Frogger, or Moon Patrol - and enhance it with at least one, new bonus feature. Led brilliantly by Paul Neve, Course Leader for Computer Science, Vibethon gave students the freedom to experiment, collaborate and push their creativity (with or without code!) The results were fantastic and we can’t wait to announce the winners at CodeFest's Awards Ceremony this Friday! 🏆 #KingstonUni #KingstonAlumni #CodeFest #Hackathon #TechEvent
