  • We’re pleased to announce a £2.5m grant to support Wordsworth Trust in acquiring and securing the future of Rydal Mount, the final home of world-renowned poet William Wordsworth. The Trust’s support will enable Wordsworth Trust to acquire the historic property, which had faced an uncertain future after rising operating costs made its current model unsustainable. The acquisition will ensure that Rydal Mount is preserved for public benefit and protected for future generations. Simon Fourmy, Chief Executive of The Julia Rausing Trust, said: “Helping to preserve the UK’s cultural heritage is an important part of The Julia Rausing Trust’s mission, and we are pleased to support Wordsworth Trust in the landmark acquisition of Rydal Mount. As the long-time home of William Wordsworth, the house offers a unique insight into the poet’s life, and charitable stewardship will ensure it remains a place where generations can engage with his legacy. We hope that this acquisition will provide a strong foundation for the Wordsworth Trust to expand its educational and community programmes over time.” Real the full release here: https://lnkd.in/eFQdB8BH Photo credit: Cumbria Tourism

  • We’re pleased to announce a £300,000 grant to be given over the next three years to Art UK to help support core running costs. Art UK run a digital platform that showcases art in public collections in museums and galleries across the UK, creating digital access where physical access isn’t always available. This grant will enable Art UK to maintain and increase its current staffing complement, as well as undertaking digital development of the outdated site to broaden access and increase engagement with the artworks shown by new and current audiences. Art UK currently have 1 million artworks on its site, but over the course of the project hope to increase this to 2 million. With a mission to democratise access to the UK national collection of art, the platform increases the reach of smaller museums and galleries’ collections and has become a key tool for collection research, tourism and curator exhibition research. The British Museum is delighted to announce that through extraordinary philanthropic giving and the unwavering support of the public, the Museum has raised the funds to acquire the Tudor Heart for future generations. Almost no other objects survive that celebrate Henry and Katherine’s relationship, most having been lost over time. The Tudor Heart therefore acts as an important historical witness, showing both the luxury of Henry VIII’s earlier reign and the strength of their union. Supported by the National Heritage Memorial Fund and UK government funding.
