In early March we gathered everyone for a team lunch to kick off the last sprint of the quarter. Q1 turned out to be a full one, and in March alone we wrapped the Alternative Events Accountancy Tech conference and The Finance, Accounting & Bookkeeping Show, hosted the first of what will be many dinner events this year, and spent a day with the PM+M community at StackedX hosted with CFO Techstack. Somewhere in between all the travelling and building we also found time for a ping pong tournament in the office that revealed more about everyone's competitive side than we were ready for. Ping pong seems to do that to people. Lots still to come. How did Q1 treat you? Busy season is an understatement from what we're hearing.

Last night we hosted a dinner in London with some of the most forward-thinking partners and leaders in the profession. The conversation covered a lot of ground. Such as developing the next generation of accountants, the future of compliance, what advisory looks like when the technical work gets automated, and what it means for the people entering the profession today. Honest, considered views from people who are actually navigating this. Spaces like this are becoming one of our favourite things to build, and the next one is already taking shape. When Dan Cooper told his team at Ryecroft Glenton they were going to start looking seriously at AI, a couple of people asked the same question: "What does this mean for my job?" What dissolved that worry wasn't reassurance from leadership. It was getting people hands-on with the product early, seeing what it did and didn't do. The buy-in came easy, once people could actually see what it meant for their own development. That's probably the most practical thing any firm leader could take from this.
