‘There are people who are nine, 10, 11, 12, all the way up to 60 plus, who first collected a piece of art because it was an NFT and because they could do it from their computer.’ What does the long-term future hold for digital art, for both private collectors and public institutions? That was the core question in a compelling discussion in the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Lounge at Frieze Los Angeles 2026, hosted by Thomas Klemm, Managing Director, Head of Private Bank West Coast / South and featuring the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Digital Leaders co-chairs (and collector couple) Jehan Chu and Jeannie Vu, and moderated by Celia Yang Nelson, Head of Director’s Strategic Initiatives, Asia at LACMA. Their wide-ranging conversation reflected on Chu and Vu’s very different journeys into collecting, and the importance that digital art has respectively played in them. Jehan Chu’s experience as both a dotcom boom software developer and an art advisor has given him a unique insight into digital art, and in particular the thorny issue of longevity: ‘Can this artist stand the test of time?’ he asks. ‘Are they validated in some way? Is there a secondary market?’ He also cites the recent minting as NFTs of early computer artworks made by Keith Haring in the mid-1980s as symptomatic of ‘convergence’ in the perception of digital artwork. With a background as an investor and arts leader, Jeannie Vu currently also serves on the board of Rhizome, and became interested in digital artworks at the same time as crypto. She explained how LACMA’s Digital Leaders group will develop: ‘We want to encourage digital art collecting inside a major institution, as well as support a digital art fellowship, and maybe in the future, digital art curatorial position.’ The pair also reflected on the future landscape of digital art for collectors and institutions, and the importance of nonprofits in driving change. It was a pleasure to bring these guests together for this deeply insightful exchange during Frieze Week in Los Angeles. #FriezeLA #DigitalArt #ArtCollecting #LACMA #FriezeWeek  @deutschebank Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Is this the most exquisite exhibition in Los Angeles right now? Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for heiress and patron Aline Barnsdall in 1921, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House in East Hollywood is LA’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site and continues its founder's vision as a place for artists with exhibitions like ‘Diary of a Fly’ by LA-based artist Ryan Preciado. Visiting the show for Art:LIVE, Frieze’s Matthew McLean finds Preciado subtly introducing real-world vernacular into its rarefied atmosphere, drawing on motifs from roadside architecture to construction tarps. Hit the link in bio to watch more clips from Art:LIVE at Frieze Los Angeles 2026. Ryan Preciado is represented by Karma. #DeutscheBank

‘I think what artists do is that we posture possibilities.’ – Ebony G. Patterson For Art:LIVE, the Kingston- and Chicago-based artist talks to Frieze’s Matthew McLean about her is solo presentation at Frieze Los Angeles with Chicago’s moniquemeloche gallery. Just announced as being included in the 2026 Venice Biennale, Patterson’s work often addressing colonialism’s extractive exploitation and ideas of loss. Her presentation at the fair sees dense installations comprising multiple ideas and elements – plastic flowers and plants, textiles, jewellery, and text pieces – exploring plunder and proliferation. For Patterson, though, all one can ultimately do is explore: ‘It’s not my responsibility to come with answers,’ she says. Hit the link in bio to watch more clips from Art:LIVE at Frieze Los Angeles 2026. Ebony G. Patterson’s work is presented by Monique Meloche (Stand A26) at Frieze Los Angeles 2026, Santa Monica Airport, 26 February – 1 March.

Memory into Clay: Kohshin Finley at Frieze Los Angeles Artist Kohshin Finley stows personal histories in earthy glazed vessels for his Frieze Los Angeles project, presented in partnership with Art Production Fund. ‘Some vessels or feelings are meant to be open, some you want to close up and never see the light of day again,’ says Finley. ‘With this installation, I wanted to showcase that they’re beautiful all the same.’ Towering, small, softly tapering or broken, Finley’s ceramic vessels are housed in walnut shelves at the entrance to Frieze Los Angeles. ‘The Piano Player’ is the first or last artwork most visitors encounter – Finley hopes it will give audiences ‘room to pause’.    In this video, we move between Finley’s Hollywood studio and the fair, as he reflects on what his discovery of ceramics has brought to his art-making, how each vessel holds time and memory differently and how his connection to the past and nature run through the feel of clay and the colour of the glaze.    Kohshin Finley presents ‘The Piano Player’ in the Art Production Fund project programme at Frieze Los Angeles 2026, Santa Monica Airport, 26 February – 1 March.
