  • 📢 “Honourable adjudicators, worthy opponents, and the audience” You are hereby invited to follow the anticipated, hotly contested #ShiftingthePower Pan-African debates! Over the next few weeks, university students across Zambia, Malawi, and Ghana will go head-to-head, debating how aid and development can be reimagined. As part of Comic Relief’s flagship Shifting the Power program, co-funded with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, key anchor partners STAR-Ghana Foundation, the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), TILITONSE FOUNDATION, and the Zambian Governance Foundation (ZGF) are hosting debate competitions that challenge young people to critique dominant narratives, challenge systems and assumptions, and radically imagine better futures. We have already seen fierce competition in Zambia, where four teams battled for the coveted position in the grand finale, all broadcast on national television. With greatly anticipated debates scheduled in Malawi and Ghana, young people are engaging with big questions and sharing pathways towards putting local communities, knowledge, and voices at the forefront of decolonising aid. Making up 70% of the African population, young people are a force for locally led development on the continent, and we are seeing through these impassioned debates how they intend on moving from rhetoric to reality. Stay tuned to hear more as finalist teams from each country head to the grand finale in Ghana this March! 👀 #ShiftingThePower #LocallyLedDevelopment #YouthLeadership

Red Nose Day is coming up on 20th March, but you don’t need to wait until then to Take Yourself Funny for Money. It’s the perfect opportunity to turn your work days into moments of connection, joy, and collective good. Bring your colleagues together, share some laughs, and make a real difference while you’re at it! 🔴 Here are five fun ways to get involved: Kick things off with a Bake Sale but not just any bake sale. Bake Yourself Funny For Money by whipping up gloriously chaotic self‑portrait cakes, wonderfully wobbly cupcakes, or even celebrity shortbread creations. When it comes to fundraising bakes, the funnier the better. Bring the colour with a Red Nose Takeover Day by inviting everyone to donate to wear red outfits. Add a mindful crafting moment where colleagues can design their own Red Noses, a joyful way to pause, reset and get creative together. Take on the Taskmaster! We’ve teamed up with Taskmaster to devise some ludicrously fun tasks to test your team's dexterity, creativity and eccentricity. Ask colleagues to pay to get involved or sell tickets to your own Taskmaster show. Think you Nose it all? Put your brain cells to the test with Susan Calman’s Big Red Nose Day quiz. Host a pay to play lunchtime brain-teaser, selling tickets for an online or in-person event. Friendly (or fierce) competition is strongly encouraged. Tour de Farce! Go for comedy gold. Prepare to bring some serious Olympic prowess to your workplace, with a large side of silly. Get your colleagues together for a sponsored challenge, with a twist. Think racing toddler bikes, a hobby horse derby, or simply a sponsored fancy dress running challenge. The sillier the better! Get sponsored to take part, pay to pick a winner, or simply sell tickets to watch the mayhem unfold. If you want even more ideas and inspiration for how your workplace can get involved, you can find loads more here: https://lnkd.in/eV_RMYuD

Giving back to our communities is part of who we are. We were proud to kick off our Red Nose Day fundraising for Comic Relief with our teams in the UK coming together for a shared purpose: helping children and young people facing adversity to reach their potential. From the brilliant energy and creativity of our associates, to the support of Natalie Cassidy helping us kick off our fundraising, the day marked the start of what we hope will be another brilliant Red Nose Day journey together. We also loved seeing our store associates showcasing this year’s Winnie the Pooh charity merchandise range, available to buy now in store and online, supporting Comic Relief. Fundraising is now live and we can’t wait to see what our teams do next, together. #ComicRelief #RedNoseDay
