  • ⚠️ The waste sector is often overlooked in the climate agenda, yet it accounts for around 20% of global anthropogenic methane emissions, making it one of the largest contributors worldwide. Addressing waste is not just a climate imperative. It is also an opportunity to deliver immediate environmental and social benefits, particularly in regions where open dumping and burning continue to harm ecosystems and public health. 🌐 🌱 The good news? Proven, readily available technologies and solutions already exist, from landfill gas capture to composting and advanced waste processing. Scaling investment in these areas can drive real impact now. ➡️ To help direct capital towards credible, science-aligned solutions, Climate Bonds has launched a public consultation on its updated Waste Management Criteria. 💬 Have your say and help shape the next phase of sustainable finance for the sector. 🗓️ Open until 8 May 2026 🔗 Submit your feedback here: https://lnkd.in/ggGqm-wi #SustainableFinance #GreenFinance #GreenBonds #Methane #WasteManagement

  • 💧🌍 Updated Water Infrastructure Criteria open for consultation – one week left to share your views The Climate Bonds Initiative is calling on stakeholders, experts, and market participants to provide feedback on the updated Water Infrastructure Criteria under the Climate Bonds Standard. The public consultation runs from 13 March to 8 April 2026 – with just one week remaining to contribute. As climate change continues to drive more frequent floods, droughts, and water stress, the need for resilient water systems has never been clearer. The updated Criteria place stronger emphasis on adaptation and resilience, helping to ensure investments are channelled into infrastructure fit for future climate conditions. Key updates include the operationalisation of the Climate Bonds Resilience Taxonomy (CBRT) within the water sector, mandatory climate vulnerability assessments for all assets, enhanced safeguards against maladaptation, and clearer expectations around emissions and methane risks in wastewater treatment. 💧 Water infrastructure remains under-represented in labelled bond markets despite its critical role in climate resilience. These updates aim to strengthen investor confidence and support the growth of resilient water investment pipelines. ➡️ Your input will help ensure the Criteria remain practical, robust, and aligned with evolving climate risks. 🗓️ Consultation closes: 8 April 2026 ☑️ Submit your feedback: https://lnkd.in/de7QzWhN 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dGra9BiM

MEDIA RELEASE New ‘Certified Greenwashing’ label launched to bring transparency to misleading climate claims Sydney, 1 April 2026 The Climate Bonds Initiative today unveiled the world’s first Certified Greenwashing label, a breakthrough standard bringing long‑overdue transparency to misleading climate claims and consequence‑free net zero promises. From now on, investors will be able to instantly distinguish between robust transition finance and pure marketing spin – because the spin itself will be clearly, proudly Certified Greenwashing. A Climate Bonds spokesperson said: “Investors deserve clarity – even when it’s meaningless. If climate claims are going to be empty, the least we can do is make them perfectly legible.” Under the new standard, issuers can apply for certification of: ·      “Low‑effort sustainability claims” that fit neatly on a billboard, but not in any science‑based pathway. ·      “Net zero by 2150” strategies that comfortably outlive current executives, boards, and political cycles. ·      “Carbon‑neutral fossil fuels” achieved entirely through creative accounting and carefully curated offsets. To help the market navigate this innovation, the Certified Greenwashing label comes in three convenient tiers: ·      Bronze Certified Greenwashing: Vague commitments, aspirational roadmaps, and uncosted “visions” for a greener future, all safely parked beyond the next reporting period. ·      Silver Certified Greenwashing: Selective disclosure, portfolio cherry‑picking, and emissions baselines that start in unusually high years to ensure impressive‑looking reductions. ·      Gold Certified Greenwashing: Continued fossil expansion accompanied by a glossy ESG report, inspirational nature photography, and a limited‑edition “Planet Positive” logo set. Climate Bonds stressed that the label is fully aligned with emerging global practice in corporate spin and policy loopholes, noting the rapid growth of green‑branded products that deliver little real‑world decarbonisation. “If you’re going to oversell your climate credentials,” the spokesperson added, “at least do it to a recognised standard. Investors can then tell at a glance exactly how seriously you are not taking the climate crisis.”

  • Once A&R investments are in scope, the next challenge is knowing where they fit, and how to classify them consistently. In this video from the CBRT Explainer series, we walk through how the Climate Bonds Resilience Taxonomy (CBRT) organises investments across A&R themes, sectors, sub-sectors, climate hazards and investment types. It shows how issuers, investors and policymakers can navigate the CBRT in practice to identify relevant investments with greater clarity and comparability. ▶️ Watch Video 2 as part of the full CBRT Explainer playlist: https://lnkd.in/dGfUc2sc

I’m proud to join more than 250 scientists, decision-makers and innovators in supporting the 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Two hundred and fifty years after methane was first identified near Angera, Italy, the science is clear: acting on methane is one of the best opportunities we have to slow global warming in the near term. Methane is responsible for around 30% of current warming, and cutting methane emissions can also bring immediate benefits for air quality, public health, food security and communities. The solutions already exist. What is needed now is faster delivery, greater transparency, stronger partnerships and action at scale. The Angera Declaration sets out a 10-point plan from the scientific community to help accelerate progress on methane. It is a strong reminder that methane action must remain central this decade, and that science, policy and implementation need to move forward together. • 🇧🇷 Brazil’s cattle sector is at a turning point.   🐄 With 230+ million cattle and 3+ million tonnes of beef exported in 2023, Brazil is a global powerhouse in beef production. But the sector also accounts for 71% of the country’s methane emissions.   At the same time, major shifts are emerging. Our latest analysis explores how pasture optimisation, methane-abatement technologies and protein diversification could reduce emissions while strengthening long-term resilience.   👉 Swipe through to explore the key insights.   📄 Read the full report 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dsYDMte2 🎧 Listen to the podcast 'Financing the Future - The Methane Moment: Agriculture' with Reyes Tirado and Leonardo Gava Mataram 🔗 https://lnkd.in/diAcxn_j

With broader geographic coverage across Asia and Europe, Bureau Veritas is now better positioned to facilitate green and sustainable debt issuance, helping issuers demonstrate alignment with science based criteria and strengthening investor confidence in labelled debt instruments.   Read the press release for more details.
