£15.6 million awarded through Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) Round 10 is another major step forward for improving existing heat networks across the UK — particularly for housing providers and their residents. For housing providers and local authorities, this is about far more than infrastructure upgrades. It’s an opportunity to: 🟣 Reduce resident energy bills 🟣 Improve heating and hot water reliability 🟣 Lower operational costs 🟣 Cut carbon emissions 🟣 Improve resident satisfaction 🟣 Prepare for future heat network regulation At Chirpy Heat, we’ve already supported over 100 HNES applications, in both Revenue and Capital applications, with a success rate of over 96%, helping housing providers identify inefficiencies, strengthen applications, and secure funding to improve communal heating systems for residents. Many communal heat networks are operating inefficiently, creating avoidable costs, excessive heat losses, and ongoing resident complaints. Funding programmes like HNES give providers the opportunity to modernise ageing systems and deliver meaningful improvements across their housing communities. The next HNES Round (13) is expected in August 2026 – October 2026. Could your heat networks qualify for government-funded HNES grants, with Chirpy Heat handling your application free of charge? 🚨 Preparing for Ofgem Heat Network Registration? Start Now. In the latest episode of Heat Networks with Chirpy Heat, Millie Hurault discusses why housing providers need to prioritise Ofgem registration preparations during the 2026–27 financial year — and why waiting until the deadline approaches could create unnecessary pressure. With Ofgem now formally regulating heat networks, providers are entering a major period of operational change. A key theme from Chirpy Heat’s recent webinar was clear: many providers feel overwhelmed by the scale of change ahead. The advice from the session was practical and consistent: ✔️ Understand your current heat network portfolio and compliance position ✔️ Organise your data early before reporting opens ✔️ Break compliance into manageable workstreams ✔️ Prepare internal teams and contractors for registration requirements ✔️ Focus on clear, resident-friendly communication 💡Chirpy Heat’s Ofgem Registration Service provides end-to-end support including training, data gathering, validation and managed submission support through the Chirpy Nest platform.
