From founding Econet and Cassava Technologies to co-founding Higherlife Foundation with his wife, Tsitsi, our Chairman has transformed lives across Africa over the past 30 years, and his legacy continues to inspire the continent. Africa’s AI opportunity grows stronger when intelligence is built closer to home. Speaking at AI EVERYTHING KENYA x GITEX KENYA yesterday, Adil El Youssefi, SVP, Global Head Co-Location at Cassava Technologies, detailed the infrastructure required to support AI orchestration at scale - from energy and connectivity to compute and interoperability. As AI becomes embedded into critical systems, the conversation is expanding beyond technology itself. The real question is becoming: where does the intelligence live, who governs it, and where does the value it creates stay? For too long, Africa’s digital infrastructure has relied on models where intelligence is built elsewhere and delivered back to the continent as a service. The next chapter looks different. Africa has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help shape the global AI economy.   Speaking during the “Rise of the BOTs: Building Africa’s Infrastructure in the Age of Tech Sovereignty” session at the Africa CEO Forum, our President and Group CEO Hardy Pemhiwa explored a question central to that opportunity: how do we accelerate digital infrastructure at the speed and scale the AI era demands?   Over the past two decades, Cassava Technologies has helped lay the foundations for Africa’s digital future; building connectivity, investing in infrastructure and creating platforms designed to support the continent’s next phase of growth.   Today, the technologies are proven and the demand is clear.
