#FoodAllergies are often thought of as occasional or manageable conditions, but the data tells a very different story. In the United States alone, around 33 million people are living with potentially life-threatening food allergies. For some, the risk is immediate and unpredictable, with emergency departments treating a food allergy reaction every 10 seconds. Even more striking, estimates suggest that 1 in 3 children may be affected by life-threatening food allergies, highlighting just how early and widespread this condition has become. Behind each of these figures is a person navigating daily uncertainty, reading labels carefully, constantly planning, and managing the risk of accidental exposure in everyday environments. #FoodAllergy #AllergyAwareness #PublicHealth #Biotech #Innovation #FoodAllergyAwarenessWeek

Peanut allergy remains one of the most common food allergies, placing a significant daily burden on those affected and their families. Despite this, treatment options remain limited. At Allergy Therapeutics, we believe that transformational outcomes for patients are achieved by directly treating the cause of #allergy, rather than just managing symptoms, and today, as part of #FoodAllergyAwarenessWeek, we’re spotlighting our work to advance new therapeutic approaches for patients living with #PeanutAllergy. Our #pipeline includes the development of an innovative short-course peanut allergy vaccine candidate, VLP Peanut, which is designed to target the underlying immune response to peanut allergens. With plans underway to prepare VLP Peanut for a Phase IIb trial, we are thankful to the scientists, clinicians and those living with allergies who help us to progress this vital #research. #FoodAllergy #Innovation #Biotech #AllergyAlly #PeanutAllergy #Allergy

Sunday marked the start of Food Allergy Awareness Week, an annual campaign by Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) to raise awareness and inspire change for the millions of people living with #FoodAllergies. Education and advocacy remain some of the most important ways we can challenge common misconceptions and equip people with accurate, evidence-based information about food allergies. By improving awareness and understanding, we can help create safer, more supportive environments for those affected. This week marks #AllergyAwarenessWeek in the UK, a timely reminder of the importance of shining a light on this often-underestimated health challenge. While allergies affect millions of people, Allergy UK highlights that many will live with symptoms for years without understanding what is causing their #allergy or how to manage it. This year’s theme, “I Wish I Knew… Diagnosis Matters”, highlights the importance of recognising the signs and symptoms of allergy, seeking the right diagnosis and improving awareness of the available treatments and support to patients and their families. At Allergy Therapeutics, we’re committed to making a long-term difference to people living with allergy through carefully designed clinical programmes in areas of significant patient need and by breaking new ground in #immunology research. Following achievement of the primary safety endpoint at the highest planned treatment dose, today we shared biomarker results from the Phase II/IIa PROTECT #ClinicalTrial trial of VLP Peanut, our innovative, short-course #PeanutAllergy drug candidate. The comprehensive panel of efficacy #biomarkers demonstrated a strong immunomodulating response compared to placebo, which was consistent in all peanut allergic patients after treatment with VLP Peanut. Supported by previously shared supportive safety and tolerability data, PROTECT is currently progressing to deliver longer-term biomarker and scheduled safety assessments, and preparations are ongoing for a Phase IIb study.
