As we close out 2025 and the Aleto team finally hit “'send' on their out-of-office messages, we’re reflecting on a year that has been both challenging and deeply rewarding for the Aleto Foundation. At a time when commitments to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are being scaled back across many sectors, our mission has remained the same and there’s much to celebrate… From the delivery of our Senior Black Leadership Academy and Launchpad programme with OVO, to an overwhelming amount of interest in our Aston Martin Formula One Team programme, and a standout summer leadership programme with dmg media. Looking ahead, 2026 marks 15 years of Aleto, 15 years of empowering diverse talent, building leadership pathways, and championing potential. It’s a milestone we are incredibly proud of, and one that looks firmly to the future. We are deeply grateful to our partners whose unwavering support and belief in our mission have been the foundation of everything we’ve achieved. ✨ Last month, our STEM Scholars took part in a virtual session with Lauryn Mwale, focused on confidence and preparing to step into the workplace post-university. To support these conversations, each scholar received a copy of Lauryn’s book The Shuri Effect, exploring representation, belonging and visibility for young Black women in STEM. Lauryn is a young professional, writer, researcher and Board Trustee. She studied Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh on a full scholarship, and her lived experience inspired her mission to help shape a more inclusive future in STEM. One of our Scholars, Beza, shared: “As a black dental student in the dental field, reading the "Shuri Effect" was affirming. In a field which is very underrepresented, this book made me feel heard and valued. It reminded me that my identity is not a barrier but a source of strength and creativity. I am very grateful for how the book blends culture with science and empowerment , allowing students like me to imagine ourselves as leaders and innovators in the STEM field.” We’re grateful to Lauryn for sharing her insight and empowering the next generation of diverse leaders and innovators in STEM. 🌟 #STEMScholars #WomenInSTEM #RepresentationMatters #TheShuriEffect #FutureLeaders
