"Someone asked me why I went for an ADHD assessment, and I found myself struggling to answer. Saying, 'I was going to kill myself' sounded too dramatic in my head. But being diagnosed with ADHD saved my life; it enabled me to stop beating myself up for not being 'normal'." - Leanne Maskell A gentle reminder to pass on: you’re not alone, and this struggle isn’t a personal failing 💛

82% of ADHDers don’t ask for workplace adjustments. Not because they don’t need them. Often, it's because they worry about how it'll be perceived. As "difficult" or "preferential treatment" 👀 Friendly reminder that adjustments exist to: - level the playing field - remove unnecessary barriers - help you do your job to the best of your ability Adjustments aren’t a "favour". They’re a tool, and you’re allowed to use them 🙂↕️ - Read ADHD Works at Work: https://lnkd.in/eCggYJsR - Learn about ADHD at work (self-paced course): https://lnkd.in/ecpZ6R5p - Join (self-paced) ADHD Manager training: https://lnkd.in/epGDZWZY

A common reasonable adjustment for neurodivergent folk: Working from home 🙂↕️ In return, employers work with people who: - have extra energy to focus on their work - feel more confident to ask for help - can better self-regulate their attention, emotions and time - know what structures and environments work best for them - can maintain better relationships with colleagues - feel trusted to get on with their work (so are more engaged, productive and loyal) Equally, some neurodivergent people may need to work from the office to manage their symptoms. We are all different, and that’s the point. An inclusive culture accommodates EVERYONE. - browse our self-paced courses: https://lnkd.in/eqy48Uxz - book workplace training: https://lnkd.in/eFTu_j_V - read ADHD Works At Work by Leanne Maskell: https://lnkd.in/eAZRn9eX

Sometimes, hyperfocusing on a project for 6 hours feels much easier than replying to an email. Deep-diving into research all night feels doable, brushing your teeth before bed doesn't. Having a "spiky profile" is completely normal when you're neurodivergent. (You might find some "hard" things surprisingly easy and some "easy" things incredibly hard.) Friendly reminder: your worth isn't determined by how well you fit into neurotypical expectations of what "should" be simple. Don't be ashamed to ask for support with the things that drain you. That's what it looks like to work *with* your brain, instead of against it 🙂↕️
