🌹 Planting a Royal Rose for mothers and babies. This week our team at Action for Children planted a special rose at the Mother and Baby Unit at HMP Styal. The rose was kindly donated by our patron, The Princess of Wales. The unit supports new and expectant mothers who are serving a sentence or are on remand. It gives them a safe place to bond with their babies and access specialist support. A mother and child who met the Princess during her visit last year planted the rose beside the pond they walked to together in February 2025. “We’re delighted to plant Catherine’s Rose. The prison gardens are hugely important to the mothers and babies here. They offer children space to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors. This new addition will be treasured by families and staff alike. We’re grateful for our Royal Patron’s dedication to raising awareness of early childhood, even in challenging environments.” We’d like to offer our sincere thanks to The Princess of Wales for this thoughtful donation and her ongoing support for the early years. #HRH #ThePrincessOfWales #ActionForChildren

As part of of National Apprenticeship Week, we want to celebrate a recent win 🌟 We’re proud to share findings from an independent evaluation of our Care Leavers Apprenticeship Programme. The report shows just how life‑changing the right support can be. Apprentices told us they gained confidence, new skills and a real sense of belonging. Many have gone on to secure meaningful roles, including here at Action for Children. One apprentice explained: “My confidence has increased and it’s also had a positive impact on the creative way I support young people.” Thank you to every apprentice, colleague and partner who contributed so openly to this work. And to Brightsparks Agency for carrying out this important research. Find out more about the programme and read the full report here: https://bit.ly/4cp1yPU #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2026 #ActionForChildren
