The Association for Professionals in the Management of Clinical Data
About us
The Association for Professionals in the Management of Clinical Data The Association for Clinical Data Management (ACDM) represents professionals working in the management of clinical data. Founded over 30 years ago, we have been at the forefront of changes in all aspects of the management of clinical data in clinical trials. We have supported our members through training, conferences, discussions and information provision and, over the last 30 years, have covered areas such as the introduction of GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, ICH GCP R2, the implementation of EDC, remote monitoring, Risk Based Monitoring as well as a wide range of other relevant industry topics. We have a large, diverse membership and aim to lead the development and appreciation of the essential activities of those working in the sector. We represent and support professionals involved with managing, capturing, handling and designing methods to collect clinical data from within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic research fields. The ACDM provides explicit settings for the membership to develop standards within the profession. We also seek to enhance the individual skills, knowledge and professional development of our members. Our intent is to equip members with the skills to participate more effectively in the mainstream of drug development. At the hub of ACDM activities, our website offers a diverse, valuable resource for all levels of professional people managing clinical data. We aim to promote best practices, share knowledge and assist with the professional development of our growing membership.

Who will be the biggest driver shaping the future of Clinical Data Management...... Clinical Data Management continues to evolve rapidly as clinical trials become more complex, data volumes increase and expectations around speed, quality and insight continue to grow. Across the industry, a range of stakeholders are influencing how Clinical Data Management functions develop. Sponsors continue to drive operational and strategic priorities, technology providers are advancing automation and data integration capabilities, CROs are shaping delivery models and regulators continue to influence expectations around oversight, quality and compliance. As new technologies and trial approaches emerge, there are likely to be different opinions on which groups will have the greatest influence on the future direction of Clinical Data Management. This is the subject of this week's ACDM LinkedIn Poll: Who will be the biggest driver shaping the future of Clinical Data Management? #clinicalresearch #clinicaltrials #clinicaldatamanagement #clinicaloperations #ACDM

What matters more when working with AI agents in clinical trials……How you ask the question or the context the AI is given...... "From Prompt Engineering to Context Engineering: A New Paradigm for AI in Clinical Data Management" will cover this and more at the 5th Annual ACDM: Association for Clinical Data Management Symposium on AI in Clinical Trials. Nicolas Huet of CluePoints will explore how AI is moving from question-and-answer tools to autonomous agents and how this is reshaping how we work with them. While prompt engineering focuses on how we ask questions, context engineering focuses on what the AI knows when it acts. Rather than refining prompts, context engineering ensures AI has the right study-specific information at the right time, including protocols, data structures and regulatory context. In clinical trials, getting the context right may matter more than the prompt itself. “When I grow up...... I want to be a clinical data manager......” It is not a phrase many of us would have written in a school classroom, yet for so many people working in clinical research today, this is exactly where their path has led. Careers in clinical data management are rarely linear and often begin in entirely different disciplines, but they come together around a shared purpose of ensuring high quality data that supports clinical trials. It is a reminder that professional journeys can be varied and unexpected. What starts as curiosity, opportunity or even chance can develop into a highly specialised and impactful role within clinical research. Clinical data managers play a critical part in shaping the integrity of trial outcomes and ultimately supporting better patient care.
