Removal by ultra-violet lamp of ethylene and other hydrocarbons produced by bananas
Abstract
A small, germicidal u.v. lamp was found to destroy ethylene produced by bananas. In addition to ethylene, the fruit produced ethane, propane, propene, isobutane, butane, butene-2 and isopentane, which were also destroyed by the u.v, lamp.
