  • ☕️ Who would have thought a breakfast meeting could help shape Taiwan’s semiconductor future?   Before Hsinchu Science Park became synonymous with Taiwan’s chip industry, a small breakfast gathering in Taipei quietly set a new direction for the nation’s technology development.   On February 7, 1974, then-Minister of Economic Affairs Sun Yun-suan and several technology pioneers met to discuss Taiwan’s integrated circuit strategy. One of the key challenges is reducing the size of bulky DC-link film capacitors while maintaining high performance and reliability. ITRI introduces a new approach: replacing conventional film-capacitor technology with a compact ceramic-based PLZT capacitor bank. This design reduces volume, improves power density, and supports the development of next-generation 800 V SiC traction inverters. we share the technical details behind this development and explain how it contributes to lighter, more compact, and more powerful EV controllers approaching 100 kW/L.     From Campus to Innovation: International Students Visit ITRI 國際學生走進工研院:職涯探索   On May 19, international students from National Central University visited Industrial Technology Research Institute for a technology and career exploration tour.
