𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰! As students from the 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, we were proud to organize this two-day event on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟰-𝟭𝟱 to empower our community with essential digital safety knowledge. This was the First-Ever Cybersecurity Awareness Month Showcase held at the Regina Campus. The showcase successfully enhanced general cybersecurity awareness through hands-on engagement across four key booths: 🔑 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 This was a central focus of the event. We demonstrated the future of secure login by showcasing passwordless methods with 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗢𝟮 security keys, which are phishing-resistant. Many participants won their own keys and saw how to log in faster and safer. 📱 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 Participants learned practical tips to secure their personal devices and saw tangible evidence of risks. We utilized the 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗪𝗲𝗯 tool to perform live security scans on sample applications, visualizing vulnerabilities and highlighting potentially dangerous background app permissions (like location and contact access). 🔐𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲 This booth focused on essential security best practices for safe browsing and strong passwords. For digital footprint awareness and link analysis, we utilized 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼 for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). Participants also checked for breached passwords using the "𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗜 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱" verification. We provided guidance on secure credential management and safe browsing techniques. 🎮 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 We made learning fun and memorable by running interactive quizzes, challenges, and mini-games to test cybersecurity knowledge, with prizes for winners.
