🎶What does the architecture of sound look like from within? Australian cellist and photographer IG/@charlescellist captures the hidden interiors of musical instruments through endoscopic lenses and focus-stacked imaging. Inside pianos, Stradivarius violins, cellos, flutes, and brass instruments, intricate cavities unfold as vast, cathedral-like spaces of wood, metal, and tensioned strings. These images reveal more than structure. Makers’ marks, repairs, and layers of patina trace decades of use, transforming each instrument into a spatial archive of craft and performance. 🧱Designed by LABwerk and completed in 2020 in Golflinks, New Delhi, the Hundred Thousand Brick House is a 12,500 square foot residence where craftsmanship, narrative, and parametric logic converge. Clad in a sculptural exterior of handmade bricks, the house reflects the movement of the sun through shifting shadows, poems embedded within, and softened edges that house plants, water, and light. Rows of bricks were first hand-shaped, then converted to parametric software, and finally constructed by master stonemasons, resulting in an architecture that undergoes a meticulous masonry process. 📌Designed by RA arquitectos, Laiva Plaza Hotel in Mexico is defined by its layered composition of red-toned stucco surfaces, creating a rich interplay of light, shadow, and texture across its envelope. The façade is articulated through a series of offsets and recesses, producing a dynamic rhythm that shifts throughout the day. Openings are carefully embedded within this system, balancing privacy and permeability while reinforcing the building’s sculptural identity. The material palette remains restrained, yet highly expressive. Variations in tone and depth transform the stucco into an active architectural element, where subtle geometries generate visual complexity without excess. From Oil to Oasis 🛢️ ⚙ Hangzhou Xiaohe Park by KENGO KUMA & ASSOCIATES occupies a former industrial oil site along the Grand Canal, reinventing the locale as a multifunctional public park with cultural and historical resonance. Anchored by a lightweight, web-like ETFE canopy fitted with a custom dot-print pattern, the design unifies existing structures and softly frames pedestrian access from all directions. The canopy filters sunlight in a manner that mimics tree foliage, offering diffuse shade and an ethereal spatial sequence across the site. Beneath the canopy, open terraces, circular seating bowls, and rust-toned corten steel towers create layered gathering and circulation zones. The architectonics were carefully tailored to introduce minimal visual intervention, preserving the site’s historical texture while supporting new public activity. Atmosphere Under Glass🔹 🌿 Emerging from the industrial landscape of Taiyuan, the Taiyuan Botanical Garden by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects redefines the greenhouse as a spatial and structural experiment. Three organically shaped glass domes—housing tropical, desert, and aquatic ecosystems—operate as climate-controlled biospheres, each calibrated through advanced environmental engineering.
