The BIG4LIFE project is co-organising the congress and will showcase its results, while the LIFE Programme will have a stand and host a dedicated workshop on greening cities.

Conferences and summits

The 12th  World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) will take place in Barcelona and Lleida, Spain, from 27 to 30 October 2026. Organised by the World Green Infrastructure Network and the University of Lleida, the event will bring together international experts, policymakers and practitioners to discuss the role of green infrastructure and nature-based solutions in tackling environmental and urban challenges.

Hosted at the Barcelona International Convention Centre, the congress will include parallel sessions, poster presentations and an exhibition area showcasing innovative solutions and products from leading organisations in the sector.

Building on this presence, the LIFE Programme will have a stand throughout the congress and will also host a side event on 27 October from 11:00 to 12:00, focusing on the contribution of LIFE to greening cities. The workshop, organised by the BIG4LIFE project, will bring together around 10 LIFE projects working on the New European Bauhaus, urban environment, city cooperation and environmental governance, with the aim of exchanging knowledge and showcasing progress. Meet the projects:

In addition, the BIG4LIFE project will co-organise a side event in the framework of the New European Bauhaus and will present its main results and conclusions during the congress.
