Anyone who shares access to your home will also lose access to the home and will need to be re-invited. Learn about Family Accounts and how to share access to your Nest home.
The Nest app uses the postcode or ZIP code you entered in the app to determine which country your home is in. Your home’s country, in turn, decides your email language.
If you choose an email language in the Nest app that’s unsupported in your home’s country, your email will still be sent in your country’s default language. For instance, if your Nest home is in the US, but you pick French in the Nest app, your email language won’t change to French, and you will still receive your emails in English.
Some countries only support one email language, and some allow you to change your email language.
- Open the Nest app or go to home.nest.com if you’re on a computer.
- Tap Settings
Notifications.
- Under “Home Notifications,” tap Nest Home Report.
- Select a language that is supported in your home’s country.
Control home access and sharing
Do not share your account with anyone else. If you share passwords, you compromise your account’s security and risk unexpected behavior with features like your home’s automation. For more info, go to Learn about presence sensing & how to manage your data.
Invite your friends and family to share access to your home instead. Each person will be able to sign in with their own account and use the Nest app on their phone to view and use the Nest products in your home.
After you migrate to a Google Account, only invite trusted people to become home members. When you add a home member, they can change settings, manage devices, and even remove you. For more info, go to FAQs about accounts for the Nest app.
Things to keep in mind:
- If you haven’t migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account, you can only invite existing Nest Accounts to your home. This means you’ll have to migrate before family members who have created or migrated to a Google Account can join the home.
