Treasury for platforms

Looking to offer Treasury to your connected accounts? See Treasury for platforms.

Stripe Treasury combines your payments and finances so you can store, spend, and send money from a single place. Financial accounts are the core components of Treasury. They receive your settled Stripe earnings, hold funds, and power capabilities such as physical or virtual cards, multi-currency management and conversion, and international outbound payments to recipients with Global Payouts. There are no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements to open or maintain a financial account.

A financial account can hold fiat balances such as USD, EUR, and GBP, and eligible businesses can also hold a stablecoin balance in USDC.

If you’re eligible, you can access your financial account on the Treasury page in the Stripe Dashboard or from the Dashboard mobile app, which is available for iOS and Android.

Treasury is available in the following countries:

  • United States: Public preview
  • United Kingdom: Public preview
  • Australia: Private preview (Request access)

Stablecoins

Eligible financial accounts can hold a stablecoin balance in USDC. This lets businesses receive, store, convert, and send funds in markets where fiat Treasury isn’t available. Stablecoin balances are in public preview in the US and private preview in the other eligible countries.

FDIC insurance eligibility US only

USD held in financial accounts can be eligible for FDIC pass-through deposit insurance, except for the following types of accounts:

  • Primary accounts
  • Accounts with a v1 Balance object where type is null
  • Accounts with a v2 FinancialAccount object where type is payments
  • Accounts indicated in the Dashboard as ineligible for pass-through insurance

Funds that meet the requirements for pass-through insurance are eligible only when FDIC rules and regulations permit pass-through insurance. FDIC insurance covers up to 250,000 USD per depositor, per financial institution, for deposits held in the same ownership category.

FDIC deposit insurance coverage only protects against the failure of an FDIC-insured depository institution, and Stripe isn’t an FDIC-insured depository institution. Funds that qualify for FDIC pass-through deposit insurance are held at Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.

Roles and permissions

Treasury uses Stripe’s standard roles and permissions system. Administrator access is required to add funds and manage financial account settings.
