How is the performance score determined?

The SSD score summarizes the measured performance into a single, easy-to-compare number.

Originally, the score was calculated using the AS SSD Benchmark application. Since summer 2026, our own SSD testing application has been used instead. As a result, the calculation has changed slightly.

The current SSD-Tester score

The 4K random values are intentionally weighted more heavily because they better reflect perceived everyday performance than maximum sequential speed.

What do the benchmark results mean?

Maximum throughput

Sequential 1 MiB (Q8T1)

Large, contiguous 1 MiB blocks with eight outstanding operations on a single thread. Important when copying large files, editing videos, and creating backups.

High parallel workload

4K Random (Q32T16)

Tiny 4 KB blocks at random locations. This value shows performance under many simultaneous accesses, such as on servers or during heavy multitasking.

Everyday performance

4K Random (Q1T1)

A single 4 KB operation at a time. The response time determines how responsive Windows and applications feel in everyday use.
