Architecture and Planning

Crafting spaces that relate to the senses; enlivening the very experience of simply being in them.

About us

As a design firm, DP Design (DPD) takes a holistic approach to interior spaces, a direct response to a building’s intrinsic architectural and formal relationships. Here, interior architects create environments that seamlessly integrate people, architecture, technology and the ultimate purpose of the space. The practice at DPD, therefore, transcends superficial interior decoration. Our designs endeavour to preserve and enhance the natural behaviour of a building, working with project-specific materials, lighting conditions and planning techniques. With a deep concern for the built environment, we offer interior design, space planning and branding strategy services. Over the years, we have delivered and presented a sterling international body of works such as Singapore’s Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Paragon Shopping Centre, HDB Hub, Singapore Stock Exchange, Orchard Central and Resorts World Sentosa, as well as overseas projects including the Dubai Mall, Cinemaxx Palembang Icon and its associated café chain Maxx Coffee, and the well-established investment bank UOB Kay Hian in Malaysia. We have also had a hand in the interior design of Respublika Plaza Astana in Kazakhstan, a mixed development comprising retail, office and SOHO units. DPD seeks to create spaces – spaces that are memorable, relevant and sustainable. Through a highly dedicated team of designers, we seek design opportunities that display our expertise and experiences, while challenging and inspiring our creative passions.

We are delighted to announce that our directors IDr. Mike Lim and IDr. Allan Wang have been named Singapore’s 30 Influential Spatial/Interior Designers. Organised by the Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS) as part of its 30th anniversary, the award celebrates the remarkable contributions and achievements of outstanding professionals in the field of spatial and #interiordesign. IDr. Mike was recognized not only for his #humanistapproach in design across projects types including the integrated community and lifestyle hub, Our Tampines Hub, the Tampines Regional Library and the award-winning Penn Color Technology Center and Yotel Singapore, Cinemaxx Junior in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Project Keiko in Kobe, Japan, but also for his success in leading DP Design into the international arena; working on projects at a scale that few interior designers are familiar with, namely the Dubai Mall in UAE, Emaar Square Mall in Istanbul, Turkey, Perennial International Specialist Medical Center in Chengdu, China, and currently, the retail planning and design of Terminal 5 for Changi Airport. IDr. Allan was awarded for his #crossdisciplinary, #peoplecentric approach and push for design excellence across his portfolio of works which include the award-winning A Verdant Workplace and Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport. From workplace through to retail projects, Allan explores the capacity of design to shape the human experience and connect people to places. • Adding to Penn Color Technology Center’s list of recent accolades is its shortlist in the prestigious Inside World Festival of Interiors, which will take place alongside the World Architecture Festival 2024. One of seven shortlists in the INSIDE: Workplace (Small) category, the co-creative centre’s simple and #sustainable design has found itself appeal with the judges. The adoption of strategic #spatialplanning and careful consideration of its end users creates a collaborative space that redefines industrial spatial design. The design team behind Penn Color Technology Center will deliver a presentation to the international jury at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, in November.

Following its shortlist for the Work category at the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers Global Awards Programme – Design Distinction Awards (IFI GAP – DDA), DP Design is delighted to share that Penn Color Technology Center has been accorded with a Bronze award. This marks the project’s fourth recognition thus far. The multi award-winning work space centres itself around simplicity, #sustainability and #usercentricity. The choice of unembellished and raw materials communicates qualities of warm and honest hospitality, which are intrinsic to Penn Colour’s brand experience. Thoughtful spatial planning and design are embodied through private and shared spaces, displaying sensitive consideration for all who set foot in and the needs of the business.
