Ryan Kumar shared thisThe real goal of leadership is not to stay in the control zone forever. Because control is exhausting. Checking everything. Managing everyone. Wanting visibility into every small detail. Carrying the weight of the entire room on your shoulders. At first it feels powerful. Then slowly it becomes heavy. The strongest leaders eventually realise something important. If everything depends on you, you have not built leadership. You have built dependency. And dependency does not scale. The real shift happens when you move from the control zone to the impact zone. Because control is about presence. Impact is about transcendence. Impact is what remains even when you are not in the room. It is the culture you created. The confidence you built in others. The thinking you influenced. The standards you left behind. Anybody can control people temporarily. But very few people create something that outlives their presence. That is the difference between managing people and truly leading them. Maybe that is why the best leaders become calmer over time. Less ego. Less noise. Less proving. And more impact. – Ryan Kumar

Ryan Kumar shared this“Ignorance is bliss.” “Knowledge is power.” Funny how both can be true at the same time. The more you know, the more you realise how much can go wrong. You become more aware of politics, intentions, risks, uncertainty, betrayal, instability, competition, expectations. Sometimes the happiest people are not the smartest people in the room. They are simply the ones carrying less mental weight. Because knowledge does not just give power. It also gives responsibility. Pressure. Awareness. Overthinking. A child sleeps peacefully because they do not know how cruel the world can be. An employee works calmly until they understand what is happening behind closed doors. A leader smiles publicly while privately carrying realities nobody sees. Maybe that is why some people choose comfort over truth. Because once you know… you cannot unknow. But at the same time, ignorance can also become dangerous. If you know nothing, you can be manipulated. Controlled. Left behind. Comfortable while the world changes around you. So perhaps the real wisdom is not choosing between ignorance or knowledge. It is knowing: what deserves your attention, what deserves your energy, and what deserves your peace. Not every truth needs to become a burden. – Ryan Kumar

One of the biggest discussion points during the session was “The Listening Problem” a skill many candidates unintentionally underestimate during interviews. We explored how: • Waiting to speak instead of actively listening • Answering before fully understanding the question • Missing subtle cues from interviewers • Turning interviews into monologues rather than conversations …can significantly impact interview performance and hiring decisions. A great reminder that successful interviews are not about speaking the most, but about understanding, engaging, and communicating with impact. Ryan Kumar shared thisWork work work. Climb climb climb. Sacrifice sleep, relationships, peace, weekends, birthdays. Learn what others refuse to learn. Do what others are unwilling to do. Carry pressure nobody sees. And eventually… you arrive. A bigger office. A bigger title. A bigger seat at the table. But somewhere along the way, some people mistake position for permission. They expect silence when they walk in. Agreement when they speak. Loyalty without giving respect first. As though the climb itself made them superior. But leadership has a funny way of exposing character. Because the higher you go, the less your intelligence impresses people… and the more your behaviour does. At the bottom, performance gets you noticed. At the top, humanity keeps you there. That next level does not just demand sharper strategy or stronger decision-making. It demands emotional control. Humility. Self-awareness. The ability to make people feel safe, seen and valued. Anyone can become a beast in pursuit of success. But not everyone can remain human after achieving it. And that is the real test. Because your title may open doors. But the way you treat people determines who still wants to walk through them with you. – Ryan Kumar

Ryan Kumar shared thisSometimes the people who speak the most about “high performance” are the very people creating low trust environments. And that is where organisations quietly bleed talent. Not through resignations alone. But through emotional withdrawal. At the ground level, employees are exhausted from constantly proving themselves. Every mistake is remembered. Every success is treated as expected. Meetings become performance theatre instead of collaboration. People stop taking initiative not because they are lazy… but because psychologically, it no longer feels safe to. Then from the boardroom, leaders wonder: “Why has innovation slowed down?” “Why are people disengaged?” “Why does nobody take ownership anymore?” Because ownership cannot survive in fear for very long. Fear may produce short-term obedience. But trust produces long-term performance. And the strongest organisations understand this. The best leaders are not the loudest people in the room. They are the people who create environments where others can think clearly, contribute honestly, and fail safely without humiliation. That is what unlocks discretionary effort. Not pressure alone. Not motivational speeches. Not slogans on office walls. Just psychological safety combined with accountability. And there is a huge difference between: holding people accountable vs making people afraid. One builds resilience. The other builds silence. In many workplaces today, people are no longer burned out from hard work alone. They are burned out from constantly managing perception, politics, and emotional uncertainty. That is why culture is no longer an HR conversation. It is now a business survival conversation. Because eventually, people stop leaving toxic environments physically first. They leave mentally. And once that happens, productivity may still exist… but innovation, loyalty, and belief quietly disappear. — Ryan Kumar

Ryan Kumar shared thisPeople spend so much time protecting their jobs… that they forget to build a name strong enough to survive beyond the job. And there is a difference. A title can be taken away. A department can disappear. A company can restructure overnight. But your reputation? Your relationships? The way people remember working with you? That stays. I have seen people with incredible resumes struggle. And I have seen average resumes open massive doors simply because: people trusted them, people respected them, people remembered them That is the part many professionals underestimate. Sometimes your next opportunity does not come from applying. It comes from: someone mentioning your name in a meeting, someone saying, “I know the right person for this”, someone remembering how you handled pressure, people or problems years ago In today's world, competence alone is no longer enough. You also need: visibility, relationships, credibility, clarity Not for ego. For longevity. Because the people who thrive long term are usually not the loudest people in the room. They are the ones whose value became impossible to ignore. – Ryan Kumar

Ryan Kumar shared thisHave you ever reached the fifth interview and wondered... "What exactly are they still trying to find?" Most candidates won't say it out loud. But they are thinking it. The image isn't really about interviews. It's about indecision. A company that has conducted five interviews and still needs "one more" often has a deeper problem. The role isn't clearly defined. The hiring team isn't aligned. Nobody wants to take ownership of the decision. Or they are searching for certainty in a process that can never be 100% certain. The irony? The longer the process drags on, the more likely they are to lose the very candidate they wanted. The best candidates usually have options. While Company A is arranging Interview #6, Company B has already made an offer. From a candidate's perspective, every interview comes with a cost. Taking leave. Rearranging schedules. Preparing for conversations. Managing expectations. After a while, candidates stop feeling excited. They start feeling evaluated endlessly. And eventually they begin asking themselves: "If this company takes six interviews to make one decision, what happens when I actually work there?" Now, to be fair, I understand the employer's side too. A bad hire is expensive. A wrong decision can impact a team for years. Nobody wants to get it wrong. But there is a difference between being thorough and being indecisive. The best hiring processes I've seen are not necessarily the shortest. They are the clearest. Everyone knows: • Who is interviewing • What is being assessed • How many stages there are • Who makes the final decision No surprises. No moving goalposts. No "just one more interview." The number of interviews isn't the problem. The problem is when every additional interview exists because the company still doesn't know what it wants. And candidates can sense that. Very quickly. Because endless interviews don't prove commitment. They often reveal uncertainty. Great candidates don't disappear. They simply accept offers from companies that know what they want and have the confidence to make a decision. – Ryan Kumar

🚢 Shipbuilding: Zhonggu Logistics orders 6 new ships against all odds. While the specter of overcapacity looms over global shipping, Chinese player Zhonggu Logistics is sending a strong signal of confidence by signing a major order with Hengli Heavy Industry. Details of this strategic investment: 🔹 The Order: An agreement for the construction of up to 6 container ships (likely a firm batch + options) with a capacity of 6,000 to 6,300 TEU. 🔹 The "Mid-Size" Choice: Contrary to the race for gigantism, Zhonggu is betting on intermediate-sized vessels. This format offers crucial operational flexibility to navigate regional Asian ports and the Chinese domestic market, where mega-vessels cannot go. 🔹 Hengli's Rise: This contract also confirms the rapid emergence of Hengli Heavy Industry as a serious player in shipbuilding, capable of attracting top-tier orders. 🔹 Betting on Intra-Asia: This fleet expansion suggests that Zhonggu anticipates robust demand on intra-Asian flows, which continue to outperform East-West mainlanes. Investing when rates are dropping: boldness or long-term vision? Read the order details here: https://lnkd.in/e4jttq5c Are these mid-size ships the future of logistics flexibility? 👇 #Shipping #Shipbuilding #Zhonggu #Hengli #ContainerShips #Logistics #Maritime #Investment #Fleet #Asia 🌐 thelogisticnews.com 📧 info@thelogisticnews.com

Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) is advancing its environmental ambitions and driving operational efficiency by progressively converting its container-handling equipment to electric power. Sea transport remains one of the most efficient modes for moving goods in bulk. Yet, despite its logistical advantages, the shipping industry is among the most carbon-intensive sectors, with a significant impact on the global environment. In response, container terminal operators worldwide are embracing the concept of the ‘Green Port’ – an operational approach aimed at achieving environmental sustainability through cleaner, more energy-efficient practices. For HPT, the Green Port philosophy means more than compliance; it represents leadership in terminal management, proactive adoption of technology, and a steadfast commitment to social and environmental responsibility. It is also a critical step towards the group’s target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, as validated and approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). As part of this vision, HPT has strengthened the environmental performance of its operations and developed Terminal D, which commenced vessel operations in 2018. Electrification at the Core HPT is equipping its facilities with modern, predominantly electric-powered operating systems. This includes gate automation, remote-controlled container-handling equipment, autonomous trucks, and electric trucks. The company is set to receive an additional 18 electric trucks in September, further expanding its clean-energy fleet and contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions within the terminal. Eco-Innovation in Action Environmental stewardship remains a central pillar of HPT’s strategy, reflected in its adoption of advanced green technologies. At Terminal D, the implementation of gate automation has streamlined identity verification and container information checks through a combination of hardware and digital systems, replacing traditional paper-based processes. This not only reduces paper consumption – thereby conserving trees – but also cuts the emissions associated with paper production and waste. Beyond the gates, Terminal D is home to electric, remote-controlled quay cranes and rubber-tyred gantry cranes. These innovations enhance working conditions by enabling operators to work from remote-control rooms, while significantly reducing Scope 1 carbon emissions without compromising operational performance. Electric and Autonomous Trucks – Driving Change Together HPT is the first terminal operator in Thailand to deploy autonomous trucks alongside its electric fleet. These driverless vehicles are equipped with advanced safety features, including obstacle detection sensors, AI-powered cameras, and satellite navigation systems, allowing them to operate seamlessly alongside manned trucks...

HMM has formed a strategic joint venture with BGN through B International Shipping & Logistics, a BGN group company. This collaboration aims to boost #LPG shipping revenues and enhance operations. The newly established joint venture, HMMB INT Shipping, is headquartered in Singapore and is set to manage two 88,000 cubic meter VLGCs. These vessels, scheduled for delivery from HD Hyundai in 2027, mark a significant step in expanding the LPG shipping capacity. After a hiatus in 2016, HMM is making a strong comeback in the sector. Having previously operated five LPG vessels, the company has recently acquired three mid-sized LPG carriers. With ambitious goals, HMM plans to grow its LPG and ammonia fleet to 20 vessels by 2030, showcasing a commitment to industry expansion and development. On the other hand, BGN, a key player in the LPG industry, handles a substantial volume of approximately 14 million tons of LPG annually. Operating a sizeable fleet of over 40 LPG vessels, BGN's expertise and resources contribute significantly to the joint venture's potential success. This collaboration between HMM and BGN signifies a strategic move towards strengthening their presence in the LPG shipping sector, with promising prospects for future growth and innovation.

Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport has ordered seven new LNG dual-fuel 15,500 TEU containerships from South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean as part of its ongoing fleet upgrade. The vessels are expected to be delivered in 2028 and 2029. The deal is valued at up to $1.53 billion and supports Yang Ming’s strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on major East-West trade routes. With this move, Yang Ming – currently ranked 10th globally among liner operators and second in Taiwan – continues to modernize its fleet with cleaner technologies. The company, which currently operates about 100 vessels, already has five similar LNG-powered boxships on order from HD Hyundai, with deliveries starting in 2026. Earlier this year, Yang Ming also ordered three 8,000 TEU methanol-ready ships from Japan’s Shoei Kisen.

Port Operations Insight: Tuticorin Harbour As a company with over 20 years of experience in logistics and a dedicated branch in Tuticorin, we at AREM Logistics continue to stay closely engaged with ground-level port operations to enhance service delivery and operational precision. On Sunday, members of our team visited the Tuticorin Port and Harbour to observe the live import clearance processes and stay aligned with current port procedures. A cargo vessel from China had recently docked, and we observed the structured flow of operations from berthing to container discharge. Our interactions with the port authorities provided updated insights into: ▫️How containers are identified and allocated based on size, weight, and cargo type ▫️The use of high-capacity cranes for transferring containers from vessel to truck ▫️Yard management practices and how container tracking and documentation are streamlined for efficiency We also observed how containers are directly moved to Container Freight Stations (CFS) for further inspection, clearance, and sorting — a critical step before the goods proceed to their final destinations. These procedures ensure regulatory compliance, security checks, and timely delivery. Tuticorin Port continues to strengthen its capabilities with three active terminals, including the newly developed one equipped with modern handling equipment and advanced technology. With 14.2m draught, mechanized berths, night navigation support, and round-the-clock operations, the port serves as a reliable gateway for global trade. At AREM Logistics, we believe that staying rooted in port-side realities allows us to better serve our clients through accurate coordination, timely documentation, and efficient cargo movement across India and beyond. #shippingsolutions #logistics #exportimport #freightforwarding #freightforwarder #customsclearance #port #harbour #tuticorin #coimbatore #Chennai #transportation #Aremlogistics #InternationalShipping #LogisticsProfessionals #GlobalLogistics #GlobalTrade

Beyond Biofuel: Xiamen Port's LNG Leap and the Multi-Fuel Strategy for Green Shipping Last week's successful LNG bunkering operation at Xiamen Port is more than a local milestone—it's a signal of a broader global shift. In a key milestone for green port development, Xiamen has successfully completed its first bonded LNG bunkering operation for an international vessel. This achievement officially places Xiamen among the select few Chinese ports with this capability and is a vital part of its "Green Xiamen Bay" initiative. By adding bonded LNG to its existing biofuel services, the port has filled a critical gap in its clean energy offerings, establishing a multi-layered green service system of "biofuel + LNG" that significantly enhances its competitiveness in international shipping. As international pressure mounts for the maritime industry to decarbonize, major ports are transforming into integrated clean energy hubs. Xiamen's entry into this elite group directly supports the creation of green shipping corridors, a key topic in recent industry news, where fuel availability dictates trade route viability. This development is a powerful example of the sustainable fuel evolution happening across CBL's network, which includes 13 of the world's top 15 ports including Xiamen. Xiamen’s strategy is a clear blueprint: first, establish a strong biofuel bunkering service to meet immediate demand, then layer on LNG capabilities to cater to a different segment of the fleet. This multi-layered approach is becoming the standard for leading ports worldwide, and we are proud to support it. What We're Seeing in the Market: Biofuel Growth: Adoption continues to accelerate rapidly at key ports in our network, serving as a primary drop-in solution for emission reduction. LNG Infrastructure: LNG bunkering is being strategically implemented at major hubs to support the growing fleet of dual-fuel vessels. Future Fuels: Our exploration of LNG, green methanol, ammonia, and other next-generation fuels is actively progressing in anticipation of future needs. This complex achievement in Xiamen—requiring collaboration between port authorities, customs, and energy suppliers—highlights why specialized bunkering service support is critical. At CBL, we don't set the course; we provide the essential expertise and responsive, flexible services to help our port partners navigate it. We meet the market where it is, supporting its journey with the resources needed at every stage of the energy transition. The green shipping revolution is accelerating, and it's encouraging to see strategic ports like Xiamen taking these critical steps. We look forward to continuing to support ports worldwide as they build out their sustainable fuel capabilities. A major barrier is its inherently variable fuel savings, which depend on operational and environmental factors such as routing and weather conditions. This is compounded by the lack of a standardised method to accurately quantify WAPS performance during real-world operations. 💡 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 Drawing on ITTC and DNV guidelines, GCMD and EPS implemented a WAPS performance monitoring method to measure suction sails' performance on the Pacific Sentinel. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐝: 🔹 High-frequency data collection 🔹 An on-off testing and data screening protocol to identify stable transitions 🔹 Statistical analysis to isolate and quantify energy savings from the sails 📊 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 Over four months of testing, we observed a range of power savings across different wind conditions: 🔹 Mean instantaneous power savings: 7.2% (95% confidence interval of 6.2–8.2%) 🔹 We also observed peak savings of up to 28.1% and negative savings of –14.0%, though both were statistically rare. 🔍 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 Rather than relying on a single aggregated value, this analysis captures the full distribution of observed power savings linked to wind conditions. This provides a more realistic and confidence-based understanding of suction sail performance on the 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘭. 💵 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 This pilot shows how much, and under what conditions, WAPS deliver savings. As GCMD runs more pilots, larger datasets will enable modelling and fuel savings predictions across diverse operating conditions. With quantified and verifiable savings, a pay-as-you-save repayment mechanism becomes viable, linking repayments directly to measured performance. This underpins our recently launched Fund for Energy Efficiency Technologies (FEET) fund, which decouples retrofit financing from vessel mortgages by offering unsecured leases. 📄 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: https://lnkd.in/gvz4cxr3 💼 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐓: https://lnkd.in/gqXY7z4x

DNV has supported Pacific International Lines (PIL) and PSA International (PSA) with the launch of a new initiative, enabling ship and cargo owners to reduce Scope 3 emissions at the Port of Singapore. The joint land-sea green value-added service for transhipped cargo is the first of its kind to be implemented in Singapore. Trials for the service will begin next month, which will allow ship operators to allocate carbon reductions generated through the use of lower-carbon fuels across shipping, port and landside operations. DNV will provide digital infrastructure to standardize data flows and independently verify emissions data. We are proud to support the development of low-carbon maritime logistics frameworks, which help to build trust and transparency in the transition to greener supply chains. 【Brunei government partners with Japan’s ECL to launch RORO-Backed shipping venture at Muara, marking step toward economic diversification】 On February , Eastern Car Liner(ECL) announced that its Hong Kong-based shipping subsidiary, Network Cross Trade Lines (NEXT), has established a new shipping company, "NEXT Bahtera Maritime (NBM)," as a joint venture with the "Brunei SDC Fund," the Brunei government's strategic development capital fund. NBM currently owns the multipurpose RORO ship "NXT GENESIS" operated by NEXT as a ship owner. It will expand into shipping-related businesses such as ship agency and forwarding (FW) in Brunei. To mark the establishment of NBM, a launch ceremony was held at the Port of Muara in Brunei on February 2. The ceremony was attended by ECL President Shigeru Nagate and Vice President Koji Takayama, who represent NEXT's parent company. On the Brunei side, Finance Minister Amin Liew of the Brunei Ministry of Finance, which owns the SDC Fund, attended as the guest of honor. Over 100 people attended, including Transport and Infocommunications Minister Shamhary Mustapha and other government officials. In his speech at the ceremony, Finance Minister Amin said, "In Brunei, which faces the vast ocean, shipping is the lifeline of the nation and the 'artery' that opens up the future. The establishment of NBM is not just a joint venture, but a symbolic project to enhance Brunei's economic resilience and strengthen its international competitiveness," expressing his high hopes for the joint venture. Brunei has set out a national policy called "Wawasan Brunei 2035," which aims to reduce dependency on resources and diversify the economy. NBM was established based on the judgment that the shipping network and operational know-how of ECL and NEXT is necessary for the development of the logistics sector. The multipurpose RORO ship "NXT GENESIS" (18,118 gross tons), owned by NBM and operated by NEXT, can transport finished vehicles and heavy machinery, as well as a variety of other cargo such as containers and general cargo. It will provide new maritime routes regularly connecting Brunei with major Asian ports, including China, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. https://lnkd.in/gadkNXDa #EasternCarLiner #ECL #NetworkCrossTradeLines #NEXT #NEXTBahteraMaritime #NBM #ShigeruNagate #KojiTakayama #AminLiew #ShamharyMustapha #WawasanBrunei2035 #NXTGENESIS #RORO #Maritime #JMD

Alang: Insights from the Ground as HKC Comes Into Force On the eve of a landmark moment for the global maritime industry, our Business Development Head, Nayeem Noor, and Trader, Kiran Thorat, visited Alang, one of the world’s largest ship recycling hubs, to assess readiness on the ground. With the Hong Kong Convention (HKC) coming into force tomorrow, Alang’s transformation is both timely and significant. Over 110 yards are already HKC-compliant, and there is strong local momentum toward responsible ship recycling aligned with international standards. During their visit, Nayeem and Kiran engaged with recyclers, association leaders, and other stakeholders to better understand current operations and the evolving landscape. What they found was a sector committed to safety, environmental performance, and compliance, but still facing hurdles. Challenges around access to structured financing, steel certification, and market volatility continue to affect progress. Despite these headwinds, Alang remains a vital part of the maritime circular economy, supporting over 200,000 livelihoods and recovering valuable materials from end-of-life vessels. Their observations are captured in a new article that highlights the opportunities, complexities, and leadership role Alang can play in a post-HKC era. VOC Port Launches Aggressive Incentive Scheme to Boost Regional and International Connectivity. Blueman Exim News | Tuticorin | November 24, 2025 V.O.Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tuticorin has introduced a comprehensive Concession and Incentive Scheme designed to enhance regional and international shipping connectivity whilst strengthening the port's competitive positioning within South Asia's maritime trade landscape. The initiative targets vessels establishing scheduled services connecting ports beyond Singapore and Port Kelang, alongside West Asian maritime hubs including Jebel Ali and Salalah, and major African port destinations. By offering Vessel Related Charges concessions reaching up to 67%, the scheme substantially reduces operational costs for international shipping lines whilst incentivising increased voyage frequency and expanded trade corridor development through Tuticorin. The aggressive incentive structure reflects VOC Port's strategic positioning as a critical maritime nexus connecting Asia, Africa and the Middle East, enabling trade flows across three continents whilst facilitating cargo redistribution networks serving broader regional markets. For shipping operators and international logistics providers, the substantial VRC concessions create compelling economic incentives for route establishment and service expansion, reducing voyage costs and improving margin viability on medium and long-distance international services. The scheme encourages shipping lines to develop Tuticorin as a preferred call port for regional and transcontinental trade corridors, thereby elevating cargo volumes, terminal utilisation rates and port revenue whilst supporting Indian exporters and importers seeking competitive international connectivity options beyond traditional gateway ports. VOC Port's competitive incentive scheme creates new opportunities for international shipping services and export-import operations. Are you exploring VOC Port routing options for your regional or international trade requiring West Asian or African connectivity? Information and Images are based on internet-sources.
