We are a social service organisation at the forefront of the battle against heart diseases in Singapore.

About us

Singapore Heart Foundation is a social service agency at the forefront of the battle against heart diseases in Singapore. Since its inception in 1970, the Foundation has grown into a well-established and reputable organisation with local and international links. Through strategic lifesaving programmes under the three core pillars of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Resuscitation, SHF fulfills its mission to promote heart health, prevent and reduce disability and death due to cardiovascular disease and stroke. In addition, SHF also offers financial assistance to needy heart patients for emergency relief and medical treatment. SHF is also a member of the World Heart Federation and has strong ties with other heart foundations in the Asia Pacific region. It has contributed to the inauguration of the International Chinese Heart Health Network and helped to launch the Asia Pacific Heart Network. In 1998, SHF hosted the 3rd International Heart Health Conference which culminated in the Singapore Declaration on Heart Health. With increased support from the public, government bodies and generous benefactors, SHF continues to play an increasingly important role in saving lives and promoting heart health in Singapore and the region through its various programmes. The following are some of the programmes that we run: - AED Loan Programme - Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Wellness - Community Education - Save-A-Life Initiative - School Programmes

  • The Singapore Heart Foundation's Board Member Prof Marcus Ong and Community First Responders Club member Mr Patrick Cheong were on the airwaves of Mediacorp Pte Ltd Channel 8《狮城有约》yesterday evening to participate in a TV interview on the《狮城热话》segment. The live discussion revolved around the importance of CPR and AED training across all age groups and how the knowledge of these lifesaving skills can make a difference during a medical emergency.   The programme also featured a pre-recorded interview of our Cardiac Arrest Survivors' Club member Mr Andrew Boh, and his wife Ms Jenni Lee, who saved him when he suffered a cardiac arrest, on the instructions of the SCDF over the phone.   Catch this insightful discussion here if you missed it: https://lnkd.in/g7Esy4HV #SHF #SingaporeHeartFoundation #ResilientHearts #CPR #AED

  • We celebrated our 55th anniversary at the National Gallery Singapore yesterday, marking a new epoch in our mission to promote heart health in Singapore. The event was graced by the Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung, who toured a series of meaningful exhibits and officiated at the launch ceremony for the celebration event. Mr Ong also delivered an inspiring speech and thanked SHF for our contributions to Singapore in the past 55 years.   During his visit, Mr Ong visited various art stations and interacted with the participants, before heading to our flagship Resilient HeARTs exhibition. The magnificent exhibition features art pieces and soundscapes contributed by numerous SHF stakeholders, including cardiac arrest survivors and Heart Wellness Centre clients, some of whom interacted with him at the display. Mr Ong also learnt about SHF's achievements over the years at a specially designed Milestone Wall, experienced the newly launched CardioChase Game Kiosk designed to promote heart-healthy lifestyle habits to primary and secondary school students, and tried his hand at the CPR Self-Learning Kiosk which guides users with step-by-step instructions to learn CPR.   At the event finale, the “Building Tomorrow with Heart and Resilience” Mandarin dialogue session, co-organised by SHF and Fortune Times Pte Ltd, welcomed an enthusiastic audience of around 60 participants who came to listen to the inspiring views of SHF Chairman, Prof Tan Huay Cheem; Chairman, Singapore-China Trade Technology & Culture Exchange Association Dr Wu Wei; and Co-Founder, Griffin Group and Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Singapore Business Association Ms Mei Reading. The event rounded off with a joyous staff celebration where numerous cupcakes with candles were specially arranged on a table to form the number "55", symbolically marking SHF's 55th birthday.   Look out for our upcoming SHF Charity TV Show, which is part of our 55th anniversary celebration, to be aired on Mediacorp Channel 8 on 29 Jun 2025!   #SHF #SingaporeHeartFoundation #ResilientHearts #SHF55Anniversary

  • The Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) was recently honoured as an Organisational Partner at the Responders, Partners & Volunteers Appreciation Event 2025, jointly organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, supported by SHF’s Save-A-Life team. At the event, our CEO Geoffrey Ong proudly received the award from the Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim.   This is an important recognition of our contributions towards emergency response and community preparedness, and certainly, a huge encouragement for us to continue to partner the SCDF for other meaningful initiatives in the future! #SingaporeHeartFoundation #SHF #YourHeartWeCare

  • Our heartfelt congratulations to our Chairman, Prof Tan Huay Cheem, for being honoured with the Superstar Award (Exemplar Leader) at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards (SHQSA) 2025. The SHQSA is a nationwide platform that has been recognising outstanding healthcare professionals across Singapore who deliver quality care and excellent patient experience since 2011. Prof Tan was appointed as the Founding Director of the NUHCS - National University Heart Centre, Singapore in 2008. Under his visionary leadership, the NUHCS has evolved into a world-class academic heart centre providing high-quality tertiary and quaternary care for cardiovascular diseases. Apart from medical breakthroughs and other achievements, Prof Tan has also introduced structured training for junior doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in NUHCS. This provides specific training for doctors in different areas of cardiology and equips doctors with a higher level of clinical skills to offer quality care to patients. The Singapore Heart Foundation stands proud to have Prof Tan lead our Board of Directors and take our Foundation into the future! 👏🏻 #SingaporeHeartFoundation #SHF #YourHeartWeCare #leadership

  • The roar of the drums and clash of the cymbals filled the Singapore Heart Foundation's new office in the SLF Building on 4 Feb 2025 as our patron, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam arrived for our office inauguration ceremony. After cutting the ribbon and unveiling our office plaque, our Chairman and CEO tossed two pineapples into our office to symbolise the ushering in of good luck for the office. After the ceremony, President Tharman went on a tour of our office where our colleagues introduced him to some of SHF's key programmes and initiatives, including the BP Initiative @ Schools, BP Initiative @ Community, Salt Taste Threshold Test, the BP Awareness Kiosk and the CPR Self-Learning Kiosk.  Mr President then joined our Board members for a Lou Hei session where he was served a heart-healthy Yu Sheng uniquely crafted by our Heart Wellness Centre clients and our senior dietitian. Following that, these clients shared about their rehabilitation journey with the President, while two other clients presented him with their tokens of appreciation. The event concluded with a leadership sharing session by Chairman, CEO and other senior leaders of SHF, which provided President Tharman with insights into our achievements and challenges. We are truly honoured to have Mr President, Board members and all our clients join us in celebrating this milestone! #SingaporeHeartFoundation #SHF #YourHeartWeCare

  • On National Life Saving Day 2025, we witnessed the power of unity, compassion, and the life-changing impact of CPR+AED training. Over 185 attendees from 53 institutions; notably, many first-time participants from the education, sports safety, and healthcare sectors joined us to address the links between heat injuries, sudden cardiac arrest, sports safety and lifesaving measures, bringing us closer to our mission of a heart-safe Singapore. Special thanks to our Board members A/Prof Chi Keong Ching who opened the event by emphasising the urgent need to address sports safety and emergency response due to increasing incidents of exercise-related cardiac events and heat-related injuries, Prof Marcus Ong for updating the National Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) Report 2021, and Asst Prof Tee Joo Yeo for his insightful presentation on sudden cardiac arrest during exercise. #yourheartwecare #SingaporeHeartFoundation #SHF #heartsafe #cpraed

Thoroughly enjoyed myself at the National Life Saving Day 2025! Kudos to all at Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) for organising this well attended and meaningful session, and also Sport Singapore for supporting this initiative. Was pleasantly surprised to find out our Guest of Honour Eric Chua was my senior schoolmate in JC! Learnt a lot from fellow speakers Jason Kai Wei LEE, Ben Tan & Marcus Ong about heat & exercise, sport safety and out of hospital cardiac arrest respectively. Also inspired by the cardiac arrest survivor sharing session (awesome first responder Jason Chen 💪🏻) and so proud of my NUHCS - National University Heart Centre, Singapore cardiac rehab team for helping him regain confidence and fitness!
