Singapore's #JurongIsland just got a major boost in #logistics capacity. Katoen Natie has officially opened Jurong Logistics Terminal 5 (JLT5), their 5th warehouse on Jurong Island. The future-ready, two-storey facility spans approximately 37,000 sqm and represents a long-term investment of around S$60 million — purpose-built to strengthen Singapore's position as a globally competitive hub for specialty chemicals and sustainable materials. 📦 JLT5 expands Katoen Natie's storage capacity on Jurong Island by over 20%. Building on earlier operational efficiencies that reduced trucking distances by up to 80%, the terminal further strengthens #supplychain resilience at the heart of one of Southeast Asia's most critical industrial zones. 🤖 The facility comes equipped with automation-ready systems and advanced digital infrastructure, including a fully automated Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) that enhances storage density, operational efficiency, and long-term productivity. ☀️ #Sustainability is built into JLT5's DNA. A large-scale rooftop solar PV system with a capacity of approximately 2.7 MWp will generate an estimated 3,379 MWh of renewable energy annually — advancing our shared vision of a low-carbon, future-ready Jurong Island. 🔗 Learn more about Katoen's new logistics terminal: https://lnkd.in/gPiPzbWR #BuildingIndustries #manufacturing Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore) Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) Enterprise Singapore Dexion Asia Pacific Rolo Robotics Botsync Siow Huang Gan Séverine de Potter Patrik Naenen Anton Colpaert Koen Cardon Michael Tan Christine Wong Siok Leng Yeo Vanessa Ho Ivy Teo Kelly Lai

One of Asia's most critical industrial hubs is rewriting its future. 🌏 As global energy markets shift, Singapore's #energyandchemicals sector remains a vital pillar of our economy. Home to over 100 companies and a cornerstone of Singapore's manufacturing output, #JurongIsland is one of the region's premier hubs for petrochemical production. 🌿 But Jurong Island is not standing still. Singapore has allocated close to 300 hectares on the island for #newenergy solutions — from energy storage systems to ammonia — alongside plans to develop it into a hub for speciality chemicals and sustainable materials and low-carbon technology. This green pivot is not just about decarbonisation. It is about building a more resilient, future-ready industry. 💡 By embracing new energy solutions, Jurong Island is being future-proofed to weather global disruptions — and to seize the opportunities of tomorrow's low-carbon economy. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gYTDVaAV #BuildingIndustries #JurongIsland25 Sharanya Pillai The Business Times Aster PCS Pte. As announced in #Budget2026, Singapore is ramping up solar deployment across the island to reach our new target of 3 gigawatt-peak (GWp). Here’s where solar is deployed on industrial real estate: ☀️ Existing solar initiatives: Our SolarRoof initiative deploys solar photovoltaic (PV) panels atop industrial buildings across JTC estates, while SolarLand transforms underutilised terrain into temporary solar farms. ☀️ Jurong Island: As of Dec 2025, we’ve deployed over 300,000 solar panels there, equivalent to powering over 35,000 units of four-room HDB flats a year (~153 MWp solar capacity). ☀️ Exploring new ideas: We are also testing the viability of building Singapore’s first overhang solar system – constructed across void spaces between multi-storey industrial buildings – to serve as an alternative to conventional land-based or rooftop installations. 🔗 Link: https://lnkd.in/gAwV3G6d #BuildingIndustries #Solar #MTICOS2026 Photo 1: The Straits Times
