“You must be introverts?” Craig Bristol Dixon asked with a knowing smile as a few of us founders quietly waited in the green room at Microsoft Singapore, moments before the Accelerating Asia Ventures Cohort 10 Demo Day kicked off. He wasn’t wrong. While some founders were already connecting with guests, I was doing what I needed most before taking the stage—sitting still, preserving energy, getting into the zone to pitch Chhaya to a room full of investors and ecosystem players. What stood out to me that day wasn’t just the event, or even the presentation (which, based on audience feedback, went very well). What stayed with me was Craig’s understanding. Instead of pushing us to “network more,” he explained why introverts operate the way we do—how conserving energy before a big moment is not avoidance, but preparation. As someone who has often been nudged to act against my personality—especially in high-stakes professional settings—his gesture felt like a breath of fresh air. Supportive leadership like that leaves a mark. Craig speaks with clarity and depth, and though he doesn’t say much, when he does, it counts. As a fellow reader and someone who shares parts of his personality type, I find myself increasingly inspired by his leadership style—and learning from it. Last week, Craig was in Dhaka to attend the Bangladesh Startup Connect 2025 event. It was a privilege for Saiful Islam and me to welcome him on behalf of Chhaya, and hand him some Bangladeshi delicacies as a small token of appreciation. Accelerating Asia Ventures has already backed 24 Bangladeshi-origin startups—and there are more in the pipeline. Its growing commitment to our ecosystem is unmistakable, and some exciting announcements are just around the corner. The road ahead for Bangladesh’s startup ecosystem is vibrant—and with partners like Accelerating Asia Ventures, it’s only getting stronger.
