Summary

The ART Sync is a critical, regular event that ensures the Agile Release Train (ART) remains aligned, coordinated, and focused on delivering value. It serves as the primary mechanism for the ART to align during the PI. The ART Sync consists of two main, synchronized conversations that are typically combined into a single event: The PO Sync and the Coach Sync.

What is an ART Sync?

The ART Sync is the heartbeat of PI execution, ensuring the work stays on track across all Agile Teams to meet the committed PI objectives. The ART Sync is a critical, regular event that ensures the Agile Release Train (ART) remains aligned, coordinated, and focused on delivering value. What is the purpose of the ART Sync?

For attendees, including Business Owners, Product roles, the RTE, Scrum Masters/Team Coaches, and the System Architect(s), the sync provides a platform for coordinating planning and execution of current and upcoming PIs. It serves as an escalation point for operational impediments that teams cannot resolve locally, while focusing on refining the ART backlog, ensuring alignment on features, and maintaining smooth cross-team collaboration. Additionally, it offers architectural guidance and enables coordinated adjustments to optimize the delivery of PI objectives.

From the business perspective, the ART Sync ensures accountability, transparency, and a focus on maximizing value delivery throughout the PI. Business Owners and stakeholders can verify that the ART is working toward its agreed-upon objectives, actively managing associated risks and dependencies. The event facilitates early feedback on current plans and insights into future intentions, allowing the business to steer the ART effectively.
