Ogaga John compartilhou issoLately, I’ve been running a simple experiment with AI and UI design. No references. No screenshots. No inspiration boards. Just prompts. The idea is to see how far these tools can go when everything depends on how clearly something is described. The workflow is straightforward: Pick a UI component → break it down in detail → describe layout, spacing, states, and interactions → turn that into a prompt → feed it into tools like Lovable or Anything . Every detail matters. Hover states, click behavior, transitions, micro-interactions… everything gets translated into words. It’s starting to feel less like “generating UI” and more like “designing through language.” Still early, but it’s been fun pushing this further with more complex components and interactions. Curious to see how far this can go.

Ogaga John compartilhou istoOgaga John compartilhou istoThis past weekend was one of those weekends where time disappears when you’re deep in code. I set out to build a replica of the Gemini AI chatbot interface. The goal wasn’t to build a full production-ready AI system, but to challenge myself to work more with JavaScript and APIs while recreating a familiar product experience. What followed was a very eventful weekend of experimentation. A lot of trial and error, a lot of debugging and even more research. Starting with the Interface, as a product designer, my instinct is always to start with the experience. I studied the Gemini interface, how conversations appear, how responses stream, the spacing of messages, and the simplicity of the layout. The goal was to replicate that conversational feel while keeping the UI minimal. Once the interface structure was ready, the real challenge began: connecting the chatbot to an API and making it behave like a real assistant. Learning Through APIs: working with APIs was one of the biggest learning points in this project. Sending requests, receiving responses, parsing the data, and then rendering the output dynamically in the UI required a lot of iteration. Sometimes the responses worked immediately. Other times, they broke in ways that forced me to step back and rethink my approach. Debugging became part of the learning process. Console logs became my best friend. Every small improvement, whether it was fixing a response delay or handling user input correctly, felt like a win. One thing this project reminded me of is how similar design and engineering actually are. Both disciplines rely heavily on iteration. You try something,it doesn’t quite work, you research, you tweak it. You try again and eventually, it clicks. That cycle repeated many times throughout the weekend. Once everything was working well enough, I deployed the chatbot to Vercel. Seeing something you built locally actually live on the internet is always a great feeling. One small disclaimer, though: the API calls are not unlimited 😅. So if the chatbot stops responding at some point, it’s probably just the usage limit kicking in. As someone transitioning deeper into design engineering, these hands-on builds help bridge the gap between designing experiences and actually implementing them. This weekend’s project was another step in that direction, and of course… many more experiments are coming. You can check it out at: https://lnkd.in/dGFzXCep #designengineering #ai #product

Ogaga John compartilhou istoOgaga John compartilhou istoOne of the questions I asked Alison Eyo recently was: How do designers sell design-led solutions in organizations that are primarily business-led? Her answer was refreshingly honest. First: business leaders speak a different language. Not typography. Not spacing systems. Not pixel perfection. They speak money. If you're presenting a design solution, don’t just walk stakeholders through screens. Walk them through impact. Instead of saying: "We redesigned the onboarding flow." Say: "We reduced onboarding from 1 minute to 30 seconds by removing 5 steps and auto-fetching KYC data. That means faster user activation and potentially higher conversion." That’s when design stops being aesthetic and starts becoming strategic. She also made another powerful point: Designers shouldn’t be overly attached to their opinions. Sometimes the best move is: "Let’s launch this version, run a pilot, and learn from the data." Because the truth is, business leaders aren’t ignoring design. They simply see the problem through a different lens: the broader business vision. 🎯 And what does career growth look like for mid to senior designers? Answer in the comments. PS: this was courtesy of the amazing community Ogaga John is building 🥂

Ogaga John compartilhou issoThis is exactly what I’m teaching inside my upcoming Product Design Masterclass. This program is built for junior and mid-level designers who want to move beyond just pushing pixels and start thinking like real product designers. Here’s what we’ll cover: 👉Product & Design Thinking • Design thinking and product thinking • Understanding business objectives • Using AI to uncover user insights • The modern product design process • Leveraging AI for UX thinking 👉Design Foundations • Typography 101 • UX color systems • Responsive layouts 👉Design Systems • Design tokens • Figma components • Figma variables 👉Real-World Designer Skills • Freelance 101 • Managing client relationships • Working with stakeholders and product teams And at the end of the masterclass, you’ll work on a Portfolio Capstone Project to turn everything you learn into a real case study. The goal is simple: Help designers become confident product thinkers, not just UI designers. If you're a junior or mid-level designer trying to level up, this masterclass is for you. Ogaga John gostou dissoOgaga John gostou dissoGood morning Goodness… I got a contract job for a finance project… And I couldn’t be more grateful to you and your team. I got this message recently and it honestly made my day. I read it again. And my first response was literally: “Oh my God… really?” Because I remember her journey. The questions. The uncertainty. The moments of “am I even ready for this?” And now… a real opportunity. Not just learning. But Results...! Moments like this remind me why I do what I do. Because a lot of designers are not lacking talent. They’re just: * Unsure of their next step * Lacking the right guidance * Trying to figure everything out alone And sometimes, all it takes is: The right nudge. The right structure. The right support. That’s what we focus on inside Mentorship With Goodness (MWG). And honestly… seeing messages like this will never get old. I’m so proud of her. And so grateful to God for moments like this. And now, we’re opening the doors again. Registration for the next Cohort of Mentorship with Goodness is now open. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start making real progress in your UX journey: You can register using the link below https://lnkd.in/dB2G_vqr I’m excited for the next set of “good morning” messages 😊 PS: Registration closes soon.

Not just the hero section that gets the most attention or the parts that end up in the case study. Every section a visitor might scroll to, every detail they might hover over. Should always be an extension of the brand and messaging.

Ogaga John gostou dissoOgaga John gostou dissoWe mentored over 20 designers 5 months ago. And here are the results they had. Little noise. More results. That’s always been the focus at Mentorship With Goodness (MWG). We’re not just here to talk about design. We’re here to guide designers on how to position themselves for real opportunities in the industry. The screenshots in this post? They’re just a glimpse of what happens when the right guidance meets the right effort. From: → Gaining clarity in their UX journey → Building stronger, portfolio-ready case studies → Positioning themselves confidently for opportunities These are the kinds of transformations we care about. And honestly… Seeing these results will always be one of the most rewarding parts of this work. But I didn’t do this alone. My amazing team from the last cohort Modupe Laosun Oladunni Olayemi Faith Ebi Schulze Faith Ojumola Adeola Ogunbowale Sinmiloluwa Ogedengbe Joshua Uriel Ndubuisi showed up fully. They gave their time, energy, and expertise to support every mentee, and their impact speaks through these results. And above all, I’m deeply grateful to God, whose grace continues to make all of this possible. If you’re still trying to find your way in the design field, you don’t have to figure everything out alone. At Mentorship With Goodness (MWG) we help designers: • Gain clarity on the right UX career path for them • Build strong, portfolio-ready case studies • Understand how to position themselves for opportunities • Improve their design thinking and problem-solving skills • Get practical feedback on their work • Learn how to present themselves confidently to recruiters and hiring teams If this is what you’ve been looking for, registration for the next cohort is now open. You can register using the link below: https://lnkd.in/exNPKAXh I’m excited to see the next group of designers we’ll get to work with. PS: Registration closes in 4 days

Jola Design Academy is a space where we train teenagers in digital skills, currently focusing on UI/UX Design. For now, UI/UX is our core program. In the future, we may expand into other design courses, but our priority right now is to deliver one skill exceptionally well. Our program runs for 3 months of intensive cohort-based training, plus 1 additional month dedicated to portfolio building, making it a full 4-month experience. We intentionally structured it this way to ensure our students are not just introduced to design, but properly trained and guided to build real projects they can confidently showcase. And yes, it is completely free. We made it free because we want this opportunity to reach teenagers who may not have the financial privilege to pay for digital skills training. We believe access should not be a barrier to growth. If you know a teenager between the ages of 13 and 20 who would genuinely benefit from this opportunity, please share this with them. Instead of spending months without direction, they can invest four months learning a valuable, future-proof skill. For now, interested students can join the waitlist using the link in this caption. Registration officially opens next week, as we’re currently finalizing everything to ensure the training runs smoothly. The next cohort begins second week of March. We’re excited to welcome the next set of young designers 🚀 Thank you for sharing and supporting the vision. Join waitlist: https://lnkd.in/eKXnFCfR

There is something I always tell newbies in UXUI Design.... and what I say is.. - You should learn both UX & UI. But master UI first because people fall in love with what they see before trying to hear your thinking and why you designed what you designed. Esp in the freelance world. What do you guys think? is that bad advice? 🫠

Design tip: Representation in design matters. If your product is for Africans, your design should reflect that- not just in the UI, but in the images you choose, the tone you use, the language and even the lingo. People connect more deeply when they see themselves reflected in a product. Good design starts with knowing your target audience and understanding what actually resonates with them, not what looks trendy or generic. Design for the people you’re building for. It makes all the difference. Have a great week ahead, and make more intentional design decisions. 😊😊

Intentional UX debt is when you take a shortcut knowingly, with a plan to repay and fix that later. Such debt is not bad, but rather good in terms of shipping the product faster. Reckless UX debt on the other hand is when no-one owns the consequences of the debt, and the whole team will have to pay for it later. When creating UX debt becomes a habit, and when no one really pays attention to the fact that they even need to be documented because someone will need to come back to it to fix it later — that’s where the problem is. Read the whole story on medium, 🔗 in comments.

This morning, during a conversation with a colleague, I thought back to my first project as a product designer. We were building an app and tested it with people with blindness or low vision, recruited through social media and specific groups. We found issues that no WCAG checklist had caught, but more importantly, we heard stories we rarely get to hear. These users just couldn't believe someone was listening to them. They’re used to adapting to systems that were never designed with them in mind. That experience changed how I think about inclusive design. “Design with empathy” sounds good, but empathy based on imagination has limits. Real inclusion starts when we stop guessing and start listening. Curious: how do you involve users in your accessibility work? #accessibility #inclusivedesign #uxresearch #productdesign #a11y

Hello fellow happy designers, Many designers limit themselves by thinking "inside the box" and putting minimal effort into their designs. They often hold back because they assume developers won't be able to implement their ideas, which stifles their creativity and innovation. As designers, we should explore creative solutions beyond conventional boundaries and present them to developers. We can work together to determine what's possible and strive for the best implementation. Even if something isn't feasible now, we can advocate for these innovative features as future improvements. When we restrict our designs to only what we think is possible, we limit our growth and skill development.
