Exploring the future of compliance, governance, and AI together. 🙌 This week at the healthhub by Unicorn Factory Lisboa, we brought together Fidelidade’s Compliance team and a curated group of startups for an exclusive breakfast 🥐 focused on one thing: creating real collaboration opportunities around regulatory and operational challenges. From AI governance and AML to KYC automation, regulatory monitoring, and data quality, the conversation explored how startups can help corporates test, pilot, and implement innovative solutions in highly regulated environments. 🌆 What does it really take to build the cities of tomorrow? At the Green x Engineers Innovation Day, we brought together founders, corporates, and ecosystem leaders to tackle one big question: how do we create cities that are smarter, more connected, more sustainable, and genuinely better for people? We know where we want to get to - but we’re not there yet. Jorge G Coelho (BABLE Smart Cities) helped set the stage by sharing a global perspective on what’s actually working in cities today, where urban innovation is heading, and the real gap between hype and deployment. From there, the conversation moved into practice. Together with Claudia Machado (Grupo Brisa), Joao Costa (Quadrante), Pedro Monteiro, Ph.D. MSc (Critical TechWorks), and Alan Augusto (REMO Powered by Mota-Engil), we explored how infrastructure, mobility, design, and energy players are thinking about collaboration and integration at scale, and what it takes to make cities truly connected. But innovation also needs the right conditions to grow. Carolina Sampaio Dinis (EIT Urban Mobility) guided participants through concrete opportunities around European funding, pilots, and partnerships that can help bring urban solutions into the real world. It’s always a pleasure to join Grupo Brisa in the name of Innovation.⚡ Over the last six months, Unicorn Factory Lisboa had the opportunity to support Ahead Challenge, Brisa’s intrapreneurship and internal innovation initiative, through a tailored mentorship program designed to help transform ideas into structured and validated projects. Working closely with finalist teams, we designed and delivered a journey that combined business model development, customer discovery, MVP design and validation, speed mentoring, and pitch preparation - adapting the support to the maturity and needs of each team throughout the process. The journey culminated in the program’s Final Pitch Event, where teams had the opportunity to present the solutions they developed throughout the challenge, showcasing not only their ideas, but also the progress and evolution achieved during the program! We had also the opportunity to hear from Carolina Almeida Cruz (C-MORE), Bernardo S C Fernandez (Bling Energy), and Luis Couto (Goparity | Impact finance), who shared their perspectives on how innovation can act as a true driver for sustainability. 🌍 Lisbon is increasingly becoming a global city, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa is always open to those who want to discover the innovation and technology being built here. Over the past days, we had the pleasure of welcoming three international groups to the Beato Innovation District. We kicked off a 1st collaboration with the Dutch-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, welcoming 30+ members from the Netherlands and Portugal to discover Unicorn Factory Lisboa and the Beato Innovation District - through presentations, visit, and a vibrant networking lunch at Praça. We also welcomed 30+ senior marketing leaders attending the City Nation Place Lab, a global gathering of city organisations focused on innovation, investment, and tourism. Participants came from 30+ cities and organisations across the world - from Finland to Costa Rica. 📍 And lastly, we had the pleasure of hosting Master students from the University of Tennessee, USA, for a visit focused on Lisbon’s growing innovation ecosystem and entrepreneurial landscape.
