  • Digital payments are no longer just the future — they’re the expectation. 🚍💳 A new report covered by Crowdfund Insider highlights how digital and contactless transactions have seen widespread adoption globally. But it also points out an important reality: fragmented systems, access inequality, and inconsistent user experiences continue to create barriers, especially in essential services like public transportation. At UbiRider, we believe mobility should be seamless, inclusive, and accessible for everyone. That’s why we built a platform that unifies real-time operations, contactless payments, multimodal travel, and account-based ticketing — all in one easy-to-deploy system. We’re proud to help transit operators not just catch up with the digital payment revolution, but lead it — delivering the kind of simple, reliable, and equitable experiences that riders deserve. The journey to truly accessible mobility continues — and we’re excited to be driving it forward. https://lnkd.in/gf8FGEh3 #Mobility #PublicTransit #ContactlessPayments #DigitalTransformation #TransportationTechnology #MaaS

  • How Can Transit Agencies Balance Fare Enforcement and Equity? In this powerful clip, UbiRider CEO Paulo Ferreira dos Santos addresses a complex and often controversial issue: the intersection of fare enforcement and equity in public transportation. “Transportation is all about access—to people, to opportunities, to better lives,” Paulo says. He emphasizes that while rule compliance is essential, fare systems must be designed to truly serve the communities that rely on them most. Paulo argues for: ✅ Flat fares over distance-based models in urban areas ✅ Fare structures designed with households—not just individuals—in mind ✅ Easy, affordable access for young people, especially around schools ✅ Transit as a tool for inclusion, not exclusion "If we want lifelong transit supporters, we need to start by giving kids a good experience early on." Watch the full clip and share your thoughts on how we can make public transport more fair, accessible, and equitable for all. #PublicTransport #TransitEquity #MobilityForAll #UrbanMobility #SmartCities #MobilityInnovation #UbiRider #CEOInsights

  • How can public transit better serve low-income riders—and reduce fare evasion at the same time? In our latest video, our CEO Paulo Ferreira dos Santos dives into the link between socioeconomic status and fare evasion. The takeaway? Fare evasion isn’t just about avoiding payment—it’s often a reflection of how systems are (or aren’t) designed to meet the needs of those with the fewest options. Public transportation should be for everyone. The best systems create inclusive pricing models that recognize different rider profiles—students, retirees, and low-income riders—and design fare structures accordingly. When done right, it doesn’t just improve access—it builds trust, increases ridership, and strengthens the financial sustainability of the system. 💬 We’d love to hear your thoughts—how do you think transit systems can better support equitable access? Let us know in the comments! #PublicTransit #MobilityForAll #FareEquity #TransitAccess #MobilityInnovation #Transportation

  • "We’re moving from friction to freedom." — Paulo Ferreira dos Santos, CEO of UbiRider Fare compliance in public transit has always been a challenge — but technology is rewriting the playbook. In this short video clip, Paulo shares how the evolution from tokens and travel cards to mobile payments is not just making fare collection easier, but smarter. By using the technology we already carry in our pockets — smartphones — agencies can reduce infrastructure costs, streamline boarding, and make it easier for riders to pay fairly and ride smoothly. From QR codes and NFC to Bluetooth and even ultrasound, there are countless ways to validate fares without lines, delays, or extra machines. 🚍 Watch the clip to hear how fare compliance is being reimagined — and how UbiRider is helping lead the way. #MobilityTech #FareCompliance #TransitInnovation #SmartTicketing #Ubirider #MaaS #ContactlessPayments #PublicTransport

  • "The future of seamless travel is your smartphone or contactless bank card." Legacy fare systems slow passengers down—outdated travel cards, top-up hassles, and expensive infrastructure make transit less accessible and harder to scale. As shared in UbiRider’s 2025 transport predictions for CiTTi Magazine, contactless payments via smartphones and bank cards are set to expand faster than ever, becoming the new standard across cities, regions, and countries. 📖 Read the article: https://lnkd.in/gQKrhsJ8 In London, for example, contactless card usage grew from 0% to 73% in under 8 years, according to a 2024 study by Martin C.W. Walker in the LSE Business Review. Oyster cards for pay-as-you-go travel are on track to become obsolete. So why hasn’t this innovation spread faster? Most legacy contactless systems are costly and hardware-dependent, making them unviable for many transport networks. That’s why UbiRider, in partnership with Mastercard and Viva.com, developed a cloud-based contactless fare payment solution designed for speed, affordability, and scalability: ✅ Live in weeks (not months) ✅ Runs on smartphones—no proprietary hardware needed ✅ Cloud-native for real-time security, interoperability, and revenue protection ✅ Fully integrated—part of the broader UbiRider Platform for operations, fare collection, CRM, and more From urban networks to regional buses, taxis, and intercity services, UbiRider is making contactless payments more accessible for everyone. The road ahead is contactless—and it’s already here. #UbiRider #ContactlessPayments #Mobility #PublicTransport #SmartMobility #FutureOfTransit #MaaS #Mastercard #Viva

As I explain in my 2025 transport predictions for CiTTi Magazine, contactless payments will expand faster than ever, breaking down these barriers (full article: https://lnkd.in/dW_KsVQ6). 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 Transport for London (TfL) pioneered contactless payments in 2012, expanding them network-wide in 2014. Currently, in London, travellers overwhelmingly prefer using their own bank cards or smartphones: "Usage of contactless credit and debit cards for pay-as-you-go travel has grown from nothing to 73% in less than eight years. The trend suggests that Oyster for pay-as-you-go will almost disappear in a few years." — Martin C.W. Walker, LSE Business Review 2024 (https://shorturl.at/9QWZO) Contactless payments with bank cards and smartphones allow passengers to skip ticket offices and vending machines to buy or top-up travel cards. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿? Legacy systems, like TfL’s, rely on expensive, complex hardware and software, making them unaffordable for most operators and cities. Expanding contactless payments requires simpler, more affordable, and faster-to-deploy solutions for transport operators of all sizes—from urban networks to taxis, shuttles, and intercity routes. 𝗨𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 The UbiRider Platform was built to democratize contactless and digital payments in transportation, offering key benefits: ▪️ 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗫: Smartphones replace costly hardware. ▪️ 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Ensures safe transactions, revenue protection, and seamless integration with other transport services. ▪️ 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Live in weeks, not months. ▪️ 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 & 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲: OPEX model distributes investment fairly over time. ▪️ 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗔𝗕𝗧): Simplifies access to tickets, passes, and trip data. ▪️ 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: A unified digital platform to manage operations, fare collection, customer accounts, and more—boosting efficiency and productivity. • "Sometimes people don’t evade fares on purpose — they’re just trying to catch a train and the process is too confusing or too slow." — Paulo Ferreira dos Santos, CEO of Ubirider In this short video, Paulo highlights the role of culture, social norms, and frictionless technology in reducing fare evasion. When payment becomes intuitive and accessible — whether through smartphones, bank cards, or contactless solutions — it not only improves the rider experience but also naturally reduces the incentive for fraud. Mobility systems don’t just need enforcement. They need user-centered design. Watch the clip and share your thoughts on how cities can blend technology and community to build trust and accountability in public transportation. #MobilityTech #SmartCities #PublicTransport #FarePayment #TransitInnovation #Ubirider #MaaS #MobilityAsAService
